Now PlayingUp NextFaith Stowers Revisits “All-White” Experience on “Vanderpump Rules”

UPDATE: Following Faith Stowers‘ accusations about the Vanderpump Rules cast, some brands have stated to E! News that they’ve cut ties with Stassi Schroeder.

“Billie is ending all partnerships with anyone who isn’t supporting the fight against racism, including Stassi,” the brand said in a statement. Secret Deodorant also shared, “We find these comments and actions offensive and inexcusable. We have ended our relationship with this influencer. “

You can read about Faith’s experience on Vanderpump Rules below.

______

As Faith Stowers put it simply, “It was a lot.”

In a recent Instagram Live, the reality star, who appeared as a recurring character on the fourth season of Vanderpump Rules and later returned briefly as a guest in the sixth season, revisited her experience as the only black character on the Bravo series.

While talking remotely with fellow MTV star Candace Renee Rice on Tuesday, the topic of Stowers’ experience with former castmate Stassi Schroeder was raised by a fan comment.

“I did a show with [an] all-white cast,” Stowers told Rice. “I was the only black person on the show.”

Vanderpump Rules’ Jax Taylor & Brittany Cartwright: Romance Rewind

Referencing when cast member Jax Taylor had cheated on his then-girlfriend Brittany Cartwright with her, Stowers explained, “I felt like after their friend did something that we both were involved in that he’s done like, a thousand times…they wanted to attack me instead of him. It was like they wanted to attack, attack, attack, attack, attack. ‘I was wrong and I was this and I was that,’ calling me names, saying my hair was nappy, which is weird coming out of their mouths.”

While Stowers didn’t initially name specific co-stars, she did eventually reference Schroeder and Kristen Doute. “I believe it hit the ceiling for me, and made me really want to run for the hills, when Kristen and Stassi decided they were going to call the cops on me,” Stowers recalled.

She continued, “This is when I quit—like, I left the show. I was invited back to tell my truth, but decided it wasn’t going to do anything for me. So, I ended up not coming back, so I decided to go over to MTV. Once I did that, I felt like they got upset with me.”

In regard to why they had called the cops, “There was this article…where there was an African American lady,” Stowers described. “It was a weird photo, so she looked very light-skinned and had these different, weird tattoos. They showcased her, and I guess this woman was robbing people…The woman was at large…and they called the cops and said it was me. This is like, a true story. I heard this from actually Stassi during an interview.”

According to Reality Tea, Schroeder discussed how she and Doute had called the police to report Stowers in an April 2018 interview on The Bitch Bible podcast. The episode has since been taken down.

Around that same time, Doute tweeted a link to a report about the unidentified woman, who was accused of meeting men at a nightclub and then allegedly drugging and robbing them after going home with them.

Alison Buck/WireImage

“Hey tweeties, doesn’t this ex #pumprules thief look familiar?” Doute wrote. “Someone put her on mtv & gave her a platform for press. I didn’t wanna go there but I’m going there,” she added, seeming to hint at Stowers, who went on to star on Ex on the Beach and The Challenge. E! News has reached out to Schroeder’s rep for comment. Both she and Doute have since expressed support of the Black Lives Matter movement on social media.

As Stowers said, “It was just funny, because they thought it was me because it was a black woman with a weave.” She told Rice, “So, they just assumed it would be me, and they called the cops on me…It didn’t work, so they were upset about that.”

“I get people being upset [with the cheating],” Stowers acknowledged, “but I didn’t understand why I was getting so much heat and the man wasn’t, who’s still filming and doing what he normally does.” Taylor and Cartwright are now married

A post shared by Candace Renee Rice (@thisiscandacerenee) on Jun 2, 2020 at 4:37pm PDT

In regard to the show’s star and executive producer, Lisa Vanderpump, Stowers alleged, “When she first approached me, she was very like…happy about the fact that there was a black person gonna be on the show and she was like, you know, I want you to put them in their place, kind of give them this Nene Leakes kind of attitude and I was very nice coming in, I wasn’t really giving nobody real attitude and giving her like that show she needed from me, I felt like.” Stowers blamed that as the reason for why she never got to be in any “confessionals.”

“I didn’t have anything like that,” Stowers told Rice. “This could be different on their end, but in my opinion, I thought it was weird that everybody on the show got to do interviews and confessionals and I didn’t get a chance to even do that, to tell my story, which was a very interesting story, being a black woman in the military at the time. At the time, I was still in the army…leaving military drill…to come film with y’all…I didn’t feel like they appreciated that.”

While confessionals are typically reserved for main cast members, recurring cast members have participated in the past.

“It was a lot,” Stowers said of the overall experience. “But I feel like now I’m in a way better position anyway, so it’s fine.”

Stowers reacted to the response to the Instagram Live, telling E! News, “I have been receiving so much support. It’s crazy…It’s been overwhelming and it makes me feel like I was actually heard this time.”

“I just want to say this is not an attack on Vanderpump Rules,” Stowers clarified. “It wasn’t done on the show.”

UPDATE: The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2020 induction ceremony is officially postponed.

Originally set to take place in August, chairman Jerry Colangelo told ESPN the event will now take place in the spring of 2021 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. The Class of 2020 includes NBA legends Kobe BryantTim Duncan and Kevin Garnett

Colangelo assured that separate ceremonies will be held for the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021, saying, “We won’t be combining them. The Class of 2020 is a very special class and deserves its own celebration.”

Kobe Bryant’s legacy lives on.

On Monday, it was announced that the late athlete will inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as part of its 2020 class. He is a first-ballot enshrinement and will be placed without a vote.

“The Hall of Fame joins the rest of the basketball world in mourning the untimely passing of Kobe Bryant, a nominee for the Class of 2020 and an icon of the game,” a spokesperson for The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame told E! News. “We offer our sincerest condolences to the Bryant Family and all of those affected by this tragedy. We look forward to announcing our Finalists at NBA All-Star Weekend and revealing the full Class of 2020 at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in April.”

Bryant will also be honored alongside fellow basketball stars Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. “Expected to be arguably the most epic class ever with Kobe, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Kobe Bryant: Life in Photos

Before retiring in 2016, Bryant had won five NBA titles during his 20-year professional basketball career. He was also named MVP of his 2007-08 season. Known as one of the best scorers in the league, he is no. 4 on the NBA’s all-time points list behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and LeBron James, who surpassed Bryant’s record on Saturday.

News of his Hall of Fame induction comes one day after the L.A. Lakers legend passed away in a fatal helicopter crash at the age of 41. He and his daughter Gianna Bryant, 13, were among the nine victims of the accident, which was caused by foggy conditions.

In the wake of his passing, Bryant’s fellow teammates and friends have taken to social media to mourn the legendary player.

UPDATE: NASA’s SpaceX launch will not go on as planned after all. Citing unfavorable weather conditions, the astronauts will reconvene on Saturday, May 30 for a scheduled takeoff at 3:22 p.m. EST.

______

3…2…1…blast off!

Wednesday, May 27 marks NASA’s history-making Demo-2 mission, where two astronauts will be launched to the International Space Station for the first time since 2011. This time, however, they will be aboard the Crew Dragon, a privately-owned spacecraft.

Done in collaboration with Elon Musk‘s SpaceX which was founded in 2002 with the goal of reducing space transportation costs to enable the colonization of Mars, the expedition will be the first time that a commercial aerospace company has successfully carried humans into Earth’s orbit, a milestone that NASA has waited nearly a decade for.

Curious to know more? Keep scrolling to get all of the details on this historic mission:

Who is involved?

Astronauts Bob Behnken, 49, and Doug Hurley, 53, are preparing for the expedition, which will make them the first United States astronauts to launch to the International Space Station since NASA retired its Space Shuttle Program in 2011.

Why is this so historic?

If successful, Demo-2 will mark the first time that a privately developed spacecraft will launch humans into Earth’s orbit. NASA says it must carry on with the mission in order to keep the International Space Station, a giant orbiting laboratory, fully staffed with US astronauts.

"We are not going to launch today."

Due to the weather conditions, the launch is scrubbing. Our next opportunity will be Saturday, May 30 at 3:22pm ET. Live #LaunchAmerica coverage will begin at 11am ET. pic.twitter.com/c7R1AmLLYh

 Where is this happening?

Liftoff will take place at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center from “Pad39A,” which has had its fair share of historic liftoffs including the first moon landing in 1969. Weather permitting, the launch is expected to happen at 4:33 p.m. ET, but there have been tornado warnings in the area that could delay the expedition. If so, NASA and SpaceX will attempt the launch again on May 30.

How will COVID-19 affect this?

NASA and SpaceX have decided to carry on with the mission despite the current global crisis. Before liftoff, Behnken and Hurley were being held in a quarantine area to ensure a healthy and safe expedition. Once suited up, the duo said gave their families air hugs as they said goodbye and headed to launch pad.

Musk, Vice President Mike Pence and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine will be on hand to watch them embark on the mission. According to CNN, Bridenstine said that he hopes the historic mission will be an uplifting moment for the public amid the pandemic.

Kelly Clarkson was part of the history-making livestream and performed a moving rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” remotely from her home.

Now PlayingUp NextMary-Kate Olsen’s Emergency Divorce Filing Gets Denied

UPDATEMary-Kate Olsen just took a big step in her divorce process.

E! News can confirm the fashion designer and her attorneys filed a summons and complaint, which were accepted and processed by the Manhattan County clerk Monday morning.

New York’s Office of Court Administration lifted an eight-week Coronavirus moratorium on all criminal and civil court proceedings not deemed to be essential or an emergency. As a result, Mary-Kate and her legal team were able to proceed.

————

Mary-Kate Olsen‘s request to submit an emergency divorce filing has been denied.

New York courts spokesman Lucian Chalfen confirmed the setback, telling E! News that only “essential, emergency” filings are being accepted because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz ruled Thursday that Olsen’s emergency petition to begin divorce proceedings against Olivier Sarkozy would not move forward.

“The original filing was rejected by the New York County Clerk because they did not follow the essential matter procedure,” Chalfen tells us. “They refiled under the essential matter procedure and the matter was referred to the ex-party State Supreme Court Judge. He just decided that it is not an essential matter so they can’t file anything at this point.”

On Wednesday, May 13, the former child star filed documents that claimed she had initially attempted to file for divorce a month prior, but was unable to because of restrictions put in place following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mary-Kate Olsen & Olivier Sarkozy: Romance Rewind

In the filing obtained by Page Six, Olsen, 33, reportedly states, “This application is an emergency because my husband expects me to move out of our home on Monday, May 18, 2020 in the middle of New York City being on pause due to COVID-19.”

“I am petrified that my husband is trying to deprive me of the home we have lived in and if he is successful, I will not only lose my home but I risk losing my personal property as well,” she stated, according to the outlet.

Meanwhile, a source told E! News that the dynamic between Mary-Kate and Olivier has become acrimonious.

“It’s gotten very ugly between them,” our insider shared. “She’s done with the drama.”

For now, we’re told Mary-Kate is spending time with twin sister Ashley Olsen and their friends outside of New York City.

Mary-Kate, who has unsurprisingly not commented on the split news, married the French baker in 2015 after three years together.

Now PlayingUp NextSelena Gomez Responds to Bella Hadid’s Deleted IG Post

UPDATE: Don’t bring out the bubbly just yet! Bella Hadid has already unfollowed Selena Gomez, mere hours after she followed her ex-boyfriend’s ex.

______

We can’t keep this news to ourselves!

Bella Hadid caused quite a stir on social media when some eagle eyed fans noticed that she began following Selena Gomez. As of this weekend, the “Rare” singer is one of the 386 accounts that the model follows on Instagram.

“Selena Gomez and bella Hadid are officially following each other,” one fan exclaimed on Twitter. “Me trying to understand what’s going on between Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez #SpillTheTea,” another shared, along with a confused meme. Chiming in, another tweeted, “BELLA HADID AND SELENA GOMEZ’S POWER I STAN.”

This comes months after Selena re-followed Bella on Instagram. Fans will recall that Bella unfollowed Selena back in 2017 after she and Bella’s ex The Weeknd sparked romance rumors. Selena returned the favor later that year. Then in November 2019, the “Lose You To Love Me” singer put an end to their alleged feud by following Bella, who appeared to have rekindled her romance with the “Starboy” singer in October.

Further proving that there was no bad blood between them, Selena left Bella a friendly message on one of her Instagram posts, which was then deleted by the 23-year-old. Seeing that the post was no longer on her feed, a Selena fan account wrote on Instagram, “She’s all about supporting women. You all just can’t take it nicely. Btw Ms. Hadid deleted the post.” Selena responded, “That sucks.”

Since their split in August 2017, Selena has been on friendly terms with The Weeknd. In recent weeks, she’s shown her support for his new music on various occasions.

She gave the singer a shout-out in her “Cooking Together: Selena Gomez” Spotify playlist by featuring his song “Snowchild,” which fans believe features a cameo from Bella. Selena also included the song on the social distancing playlist that she shared on Instagram.

According to some fans, The Weeknd even served as inspiration for one of Selena’s new songs. In the track “Souvenir,” many believe that the “Look At Her Now” singer made several references to their 10-month relationship with the romantic song, which recalled steamy PDA-packed moments with an ex.

“It was obvious that Selena and [The Weeknd] fell for each other hard and had a deep connection they were always hugging and kissing and showing each other affection and she seems to mention it a lot in this song,” one fan said of the new song.

Hollywood To You / BACKGRID

UPDATERonnie Ortiz-Magro has reached a plea deal in his domestic violence case, E! News confirms.

As part of the agreement, the Jersey Shore star pled no contest to one count of domestic battery and one count of resisting arrest. He’ll avoid any time behind bars, but will be on probation for 36 months.

Additionally, Ortiz-Magro was ordered to complete 30 days of community labor in Nevada, donate $20,000 to a L.A.-based women’s shelter and complete a 52-week domestic violence program at a court-approved agency in Nevada.

Lastly, he and Jen Harley must engage in “peaceful contact” and obey the three-year protective order issued in the case. Get more details on the legal drama below.

______

UPDATE: Ronnie Ortiz-Magro pleaded not guilty at a Los Angeles court on Friday to seven misdemeanors stemming from a domestic violence case involving Jen Harley, with whom he shares a daughter. As a result of his not guilty plea, the city attorney’s office filed a protective order against him, in which he must keep away from both of them until his next court date, which is next week. Dressed in a suit, Ronnie remained quiet throughout Thursday’s proceedings and spoke only to affirm that he understood the terms of the order.

_____________

Shortly after news broke that Ronnie Ortiz-Magro would not face a felony charge over his alleged altercation with Jen Harley, E! News confirmed on October 24 that the Jersey Shore star faces five misdemeanors.

According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Ronnie was charged with domestic violence, brandishing a weapon, child endangerment, false imprisonment [of Jen], resisting arrest and making criminal threats.

“The facts and circumstances around Ronnie’s arrest have been misreported and exaggerated, like we mentioned in the past. We are happy the District Attorney’s refused to file any charges and we look forward to addressing this matter with City Attorney; until then, we will make no further comment,” his attorney told E! News.

Jen’s attorney Michael Cristalli told E! News the she “is the victim in this case” and that “any attempts to portray her as anything other than the victim is just wrong.”

Watch

Vinny & Ronnie on Who’s Going to Jail on Jersey Shore Family Vacation

“Everyone acknowledges she was the victim,” the attorney stated. “We don’t contest with what the authorities have done with the charges. We believe her injuries were serious, and could have easily [been] a felony, but the charges he is currently facing shows that the authorities agree that she was the victim of a crime. Her injuries are significant. I don’t think the change in the charges is going to effect the restraining orders she has against him (in LA and Vegas). It bolsters that there were crimes committed, and fortifies the restraining orders that are in place. She’s a resilient woman. Her daughter and her son are very special to her. She is focusing on them right now and is focusing on healing. She is still healing from the physical injuries. She suffered deep contusions and they will take some time to heal.”

The attorney also said Jen “will likely have to be at the upcoming restraining order hearings.”

On October 4, the Jersey Shore star was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence and kidnapping of his and Jen’s 1-year-old daughter, Ariana Sky. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office then deferred Ronnie’s case to the City Attorney.

A spokesperson with the City Attorney’s Office said at the time there were plans to “review” the case and allegations against Ronnie. A misdemeanor domestic violence charge is punishable by a maximum of one year in county jail. According to a previous report from TMZ, the D.A.’s Office also declined charging Ronnie with kidnapping.

Prior to the latest development, authorities placed the reality TV star under an emergency protective order that required him to stay 100-yards away from Jen.

After posting $100,000 bond, Ronnie’s attorney told E! News in a statement, “The reporting of the alleged incident relating to Ronnie Magro yesterday is based upon pure speculation and innuendo. We are currently conducting our own investigation and will have no further comment until that has been concluded.”

Meanwhile, Jen’s attorney maintained she was a “victim of a crime,” explaining to us, “Her concern is to protect herself and her daughter. She is going to do what is necessary to protect her daughter’s interests and health.”

Instagram

Just hours before the reported violence broke out, Ronnie and Jen confirmed they had reconciled by attending a Hollywood party together. Needless to say, this on-again, off-again couple has since officially called it quits.

“They both are acknowledging the relationship is over,” a source told E! News. “They are looking at this incident as a no turning back point. Both Ronnie and Jen now clearly see being together is not in the best interest of their daughter.”

E! News has reached out to both Ronnie and Jen’s camps for comment.

Yandel – Despacio lyrics

Yandel with “Despacio” ft. Farruko.

Despacio lyrics

(Intro: Yandel & Farruko)
Quiero saber si sientes el mismo deseo
Ahorremos lo de conocernos
No lo dejemos pa’ luego
Aligeremos el proceso

(Farruko)
Tú me traes mal pa’ qué negarlo
Tu sensualidad ya me convenció
Si el momento quieres recordarlo

(Coro: Yandel)

Me gusta tu flow…

Y luego derramar champaña por to’a tu piel
Disfrutemos que solo se vive una vez…

(Coro: Yandel)

Sube, sube, sube
Baja, baja, baja
Cash, cash, cash, cash

(Coro: Yandel)
Ay no me pongas pero no no no no no no
Evitar tus labios, quiero un beso
Pero que sea despacio woh woh woh woh
Aligeremos el proceso

(Farruko)
Dime si te muerdo el cuello woh woh woh woh
Queremos entretenernos
Sudor, tu cuerpo…

(Yandel)
Uhh…
Júramelo
Me darás todo…
Uhh…

Ay no me pongas pero no no no no no no
Evitar tus labios, quiero un beso
Pero que sea despacio woh woh woh woh
Aligeremos el proceso
Dime si te muerdo el cuello woh woh woh woh
Queremos entretenernos
Sudor, tu cuerpo…

Uhh…
Júramelo
Me darás todo…

Solange Gets Apology After Calling Out Evening Standard Magazine for Photoshopping Her Braid Off of the Cover

ES Magazine

UPDATE: The Evening Standard issued a public apology to Solange, saying, “We were delighted to have the chance to interview the wonderful Solange Knowles and photograph her for this week’s edition of ES magazine. It is therefore a matter of great regret that the finished cover artwork of the magazine caused concern and offence. The decision to amend the photograph was taken for layout purposes but plainly we made the wrong call and we have offered our unreserved apologies to Solange.”

Solange has a message: don’t touch her hair.

Also, don’t edit it or photoshop it out. Well, that appears to be precisely what Evening Standard Magazine did when they featured the songstress on the cover of this week’s issue. On the front page that was published, the star poses with her hair in braids, sporting a pair of statement pearl earrings and a white ruffled top.

However, from the looks of the original photo Solange shared on her Instagram account, an additional architectural braided crown was edited out of the final cover photo. She later took to Instagram Stories with a repost of the cover and made her discontent known when she circled the blank space where the braid originally was.

The Grammy winner, who released the song “Don’t Touch My Hair” as part of her third studio album, captioned the original image on her account with the abbreviation “dtmh.”

Solange even spoke about the significance of hair braiding in her interview with the magazine, calling it “its own art form.”

“I got to experience women arriving in one state of mind and leaving in a completely transformed way,” she recalled to the magazine of her experiences at her mother’s salon. “It wasn’t just about the hair. It was about the sisterhood and the storytelling. Being a young girl who was really active in dance, theatre and on the swim team, the salon was a kind of safe haven.”

Meanwhile, the piece’s writer, Angelica Bastien, took to Twitter to reject the piece. “I am publicly disowning the Solange piece London Evening Standard published today. The entire piece was a fiasco despite my efforts,” she wrote on Twitter. “I told my editors to take my name off of the byline because they distorted my work and reporting in ways that made me very uncomfortable.”

“Disowning the piece this publicly is meant to get across my displeasure with what was published,” Bastien continued. “I don’t want this piece attached to my rep as a writer at all. Hopefully disowning it gets that across.”

The full interview appears in this week’s edition of ES Magazine, available now. E! News has reached out to the magazine for additional comment.
