Kucheren’s lawyer told whether Snowden will fall under partial mobilization

Former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden, who received Russian citizenship, will not be drafted as part of partial mobilization, writes RIA Novosti.

This was stated by Snowden's lawyer in Russia Anatoly Kucherena. As the defender explained, the former employee of the National Security Agency of the United States did not serve in the Russian army and does not have a military specialty, so he does not fall into the category of those called up for partial mobilization.

“And then he will act according to the law, as everything is provided for in Russian legislation”, — added Kucherena.

The lawyer also said that following Edward Snowden, his wife would also apply for Russian citizenship. At the same time, the couple's daughter is already a citizen of Russia by birthright.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin gave Russian citizenship to ex-employee of the US National Security Agency Edward Snowden, who is accused in the United States of disclosing state secrets and  embezzlement of state property. According to the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, Snowden was granted citizenship of the Russian Federation at his request.

About 400 mistakenly mobilized citizens returned home in Crimea

Plot Partial mobilization in Russia

In Crimea, about 400 people were returned home, who were mistakenly called up as part of partial mobilization, according to the website of the government of the republic.

As the head of the service for mobilization work and territorial defense of Crimea said Viktor Fesenko, for 300 people, mobilization was canceled on the very first day, since those called up were not suitable for their age.

Fesenko reminded that those liable for military service must report to the military enlistment office about all the changes that occur in life: from a change of residence before surgery.

The head of the service cited as an example a situation where a person was called up after undergoing surgery. He noted that the military registration and enlistment office simply could not have known about this situation.

“Most of the citizens themselves are to blame for not registering for the military on time. There should be a mark that the person is unfit for health reasons, the status will change. And the person will not receive a summons, — Fesenko stressed.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, said that the department would approve an approximate list of IT specialties that give the right to deferment from conscription as part of partial mobilization. He noted that on September 27, a form will appear on the public services portal to receive a reprieve by such specialists.

“There are many volunteers.” Reportage of a temporary mobilization point in Moscow

Plot Partial mobilization in Russia

The Museum of Moscow was crowded last Monday: from the morning of September 26 there was a temporary mobilization point for three military enlistment offices — Krasnoselsky, Tverskoy and Zamoskvoretsky.

Everything is harsh at the entrance: only those who came according to the agenda are allowed inside through the metal detector. Relatives and friends can wait in the patio. Inside — several rows of metal chairs — such as in any of waiting rooms, in front of them — TV on tripod. On the screen is the film "Station for Two".

The armchairs are free: there are about two dozen waiting men with backpacks and sports bags. Someone is talking with neighbors, someone is looking at the screen of a smartphone, someone is watching the complex relationship between Vera and Plato.

Slightly to the side — entrance to buffet. The girls at the counter explain that they feed everyone: both the mobilized and the military registration and enlistment office staff. There are no gourmet dishes, but and not fast food. According to their said, there were already quite a few volunteers in the first half of the day. Colonel running past — a 50 years old man with a thick cap of gray hair — confirms: “Volunteers?! Yes, there a lot of them!"

— Krasnoselsky who else?! — a low but distinct voice comes from the waiting room. Several people raise their hands. The officer assigns the order, invites the first to pass.

The impressive hall for paperwork has no windows. Three rows of tables set with the letter "P", on each straight —  a dozen jobs: officers in camouflage, female assistants — on the one hand, mobilized — with another. The tables are filled with computers, piled with papers. Work is in full swing.

In the room next  — social workers. If the person who arrived on the summons has reasons for delay, then they are sent here. Information about  children (elderly relatives requiring care) or other good reasons is specified instantly: within 20 minutes, an answer is ready. However, social workers act only in the role of experts, the final decision is made by the military commissar. According to the head of the social service, approximately 5% of everyone who arrives on mobilization passes through them. Sometimes a person receives a summons while on sick leave. Such people simply ask for a delay until the closing of the bulletin in the polyclinic. And there are also those who need the help of a psychologist.

There is also a medical board. But  the excitement is not observed there. As one of the mobilized people explained, he has no health problems, he is ready to serve. Why does it need additional checks?

In  the final waiting room, we sit down to a young guy with a neatly trimmed beard, he waits to be sent not alone. Next to the wife. He explains that when all the documents were completed, he asked to let her go to him. The employees of the mobile point reacted with understanding. And now the family is waiting for the officers to announce the loading.

There is also a small buffet next to it. The girl, pouring drinks from thermoses and distributing pies, says that all this was provided by a cafe that constantly works in the museum building. Another mobilized, receiving a glass of hot black coffee, says that he has a quite successful life. But behind   — service in the army. So he can cannot afford to ignore the call.

…The blue bus has already warmed up the engine. It's time to go, picking up backpacks, the men set off for the exit.

And mobilization continues.

British resident Anthony Garnett, who left his wife and children for a Ukrainian refugee, told the Daily Mail that he broke up with a Ukrainian woman after a serious quarrel, because of which he was even forced to call the police.

p>

According to the Briton, the reason was the girl's aggressive behavior.

Garnett also admitted that he was “tired” of irrational behavior of the girl, her insults and aggression.

Criminal gene. How maniacs are found in Russia by DNA

The first forensic DNA research in our country began in 1988 the year when the USSR State Committee for Science and Technology decided to organize genotyposcopy laboratories in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Since then, this method has helped solve tens of thousands of criminal cases, many of which seemed completely hopeless. In recent years, this work has become more and more effective due to the replenishment of the federal database of genomic information.

From a drop of saliva, sweat or a single hair from a crime scene, they learned to get data even about the appearance of a suspect. Aif.ru tells the stories of the most infamous villains who were caught thanks to these technologies.

Maniac's smile

One of the most famous and bloody criminals caught in Russia in recent decades, became the “Angara maniac” Mikhail Popkov. In terms of the number of victims, he far surpassed even Andrey Chikotilowho took the lives of 53 people. The killer from Siberia has 80 proven murders, most of which he himself confessed to after receiving a life sentence in 2015. For such convicts, participation in investigative actions on new episodes of crimes outside the walls of a special regime colony — it's like going on vacation. And to such a life in which he is happy to be "free" even in handcuffs with a chain, DNA chains were brought.

In the 90s, Mikhail Popkov served in the Angarsk police, where he received the nickname “Misha-smile”. The junior sergeant was always very friendly, did a good job as an operational duty officer and was considered an exemplary family man. No one noticed how a bloodthirsty beast arose under the mask of a good-natured man, awakened by a heartfelt insult. She was caused by the betrayal of her wife, whom Popkov once accidentally found out about. He loved his daughter very much and decided to save the family, but began to take revenge on other women whom he considered vicious. After work, he often taxied, picking up pretty strangers at bus stops or at hot spots. The man used his charms, offered to drink together in solitude, and many agreed that it cost them their lives.

Popkov claimed that his victims voluntarily entered into sexual intercourse with him and only then they themselves brought him to sin. Allegedly, in the course of quarrels from the enmity that arose, he killed them and hiding the remains in the forests. But more eloquently than any of his words, which cannot be verified, spoke the remains of the unfortunate. Many were found with terrible injuries from axes, knives, screwdrivers and other items. In one of the victims, the monster even cut out the heart. Nevertheless, similar murders of women in the vicinity of Angarsk were investigated separately for a very long time. Everything changed only in 1998 the year when rumors about a sex maniac spread in the city. The case was taken over by the investigative-operational group, which then got dozens of victims of the criminal.

But the search for the killer dragged on for many years. In the end, two factors played a key role. One of them was the conclusion that a person in uniform was involved in the crimes. This was indicated by many things, including the testimony of the miraculously surviving victim of Popkov about the attack of a policeman who was not her. Based on this, in the 2000s, thousands of people, including former and current employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, took DNA tests to compare them with the genome of the criminal. The cautious villain left no evidence other than his biomaterial. And it was possible to bring everything together in 2012 year, when the Investigative Committee resumed the investigation of the criminal case, which had already been closed and was considered hopeless.

By that time, Popkov had not worked at the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a long time and drove a foreign car from Vladivostok to for sale. During such a flight, he was detained. The man did not resist and immediately confessed to more than two dozen murders. From his words, he stopped doing them in the late 2000s due to impotence resulting from venereal disease. The forensic examination recognized Popkov as sane, but at the same time revealed a mental deviation in him — homicide mania. This is a strong desire to kill people, which the maniac himself explained by the desire to rid the world of fallen women. During an interview behind bars, he lamented that he didn't foresee just one thing. Like, he couldn't have imagined such a development of technology in which he would be found by the traces of DNA left many years ago.

Whispering rapist

At some point, Mikhail Popkov was being tested for involvement in the rape of women in a city located three hundred kilometers from Angarsk, which by siberian standards — trifle. But it turned out that a local serial criminal was operating there, no less cautious and dangerous. Moreover, it was calculated using the methods of DNA examination by members of the same investigative-operational group that caught the Angarsk maniac. At the end of his case, they immediately began to unravel the tangle of dozens of sexual crimes that occurred in Tulun. Again, at the beginning of the dashing 90s, attacks began there, between which for a very long time they could not or did not want to see an obvious connection.

The Tulun rapist committed attacks at night time right on the streets of the mining town. He approached the women quickly from behind and puts a knife to the throat so that they wouldn call for help. Then he takes         to an uninhabited place like an abandoned building and does his job. The offender did not seek to kill, but threatened all the victims with reprisal if they contacted the police. If a woman had a passport with her, the attacker recognized the address, some he pricked or cut with a knife to intimidate. After that, not everyone dared to report the crime, and those who did could tell little. The rapist did not show his face, for the complexity of identification by his voice he spoke in a whisper, had the usual dense physique. But there were also clues: many reported about dirty work clothes and persistent smell of diesel fuel.

Tulun rapist Pavel Shuvalov. Frame of TV channel Russia 1

Detectives followed the fuel trail in the 2000s, which saw the peak of rapes. They interrogated everyone who dealt with transport and solar oil — taxi drivers, tractor drivers, truck drivers, depot workers. Then the search came to a dead end, but in 2018, the matter was thoroughly taken up. The  investigative-operational group had a strong trump card in hands from the site of one of the rapes, where biological traces of the maniac with his DNA were left on the earth. They helped test thousands of men for rape, from whom samples of the epithelium of the oral cavity were taken. As a result, the coincidence of the genetic profile played a decisive role after the offender was identified by orientation. It turned out to be a resident of Tulun Pavel Shuvalov, who worked for many years as a bulldozer operator at a coal mine.

In order not to frighten off the rapist who could hide, we went to a trick. At the beginning of 2019, a district police officer came to his house and asked him to testify about a recent fight. At the police station, Shuvalov said that he knew nothing about her and signed the protocol, leaving biological traces on the pen. After their investigation, he was detained. Investigators had evidence that almost thirty residents of the city, including minors, became victims of the criminal. Shuvalov killed two women for violent resistance. But only a part of the crimes was investigated at the court, since in 2019 many materials were destroyed by the infamous Tulun flood, and the statute of limitations expired in some episodes. As a result, last fall, 53-year-old Shuvalov was sentenced to 24 years in a strict regime colony.

Shuvalov himself pleaded guilty in part. He tried to prove that he killed the two women not on purpose, but accidentally. Psychiatrists helped to understand the motives for his violent actions. The offender was diagnosed with raptophilia — a mental disorder in which arousal occurs with pleas for mercy. It also turned out that he made his attacks spontaneously after drinking alcohol. The rapist could suddenly leave his drinking companions and go looking for a suitable victim on the neighboring streets. At the same time, the man was even acquainted with some of the victims or their relatives, because Tulun — small city. Like Mikhail Popkov, this criminal did not arouse any suspicions in relatives and relatives. He lived with his wife, who taught Russian at school, and raised two children.

Adsky Fizruk

DNA technologies in forensics work not only on the principle of a fingerprint, when to prove guilt you just need to compare the genetic profile of a particular suspect and the material from the crime scene. They also allow you to determine the various features of the appearance of a person who left his biological mark. Thanks to this, it was possible to catch a pedophile who for many years attacked girls with impunity in Novosibirsk. He imperceptibly pursued younger schoolgirls to their home and followed went into the porch, where he introduced himself as a housing office employee. The man said that he needed to check the meter or feel the battery. Minors opened the doors, and if their parents weren't in the apartment, then the unknown person calmly committed violent acts.

Photo: Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region

The first of these attacks took place in the 2000s. Then the search didn't lead to anything, and the pedophile himself stopped his attacks for several years. But when           it became known about a series of new crimes of the  communal worker, he was taken seriously. Ambushes were set up near schools and sketches were made, only each time the faces on them turned out to be different. The children could not really describe the offender, although many pointed out one important common feature: the offender had a non-Slavic appearance. . According to DNA, they learned to determine the ethnic and territorial origin of a person, which works especially accurately with small nationalities.

The database of the research institute made it possible to establish that a pedophile from Novosibirsk — Buryat roots. Scientists even indicated a specific region of Buryatia, where the male ancestors of the offender lived. At the same time, it was determined that according to his mother, he is most likely Russian. This mixing of blood explained why the children could not understand the nationality of a man. There were suggestions that he might be Asian, Caucasian, Gypsy. Understanding that you need to look for a mestizo, significantly narrowed the circle of the search. Starting with working off hundreds of people, they systematically came to & nbsp; several dozen suspects. The work used information about the physique of a pedophile, recordings from video cameras and data about cell phone numbers glowing near crime scenes. All these threads led the detectives to a native of the Barguzinsky district of the Republic of Buryatia, who was named by Tomsk scientists.

Novosibirsk pedophile Ruslan Ochirov. Photo: Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region

Ruslan Ochirov was engaged in martial arts, so they decided to detain him carefully in order to avoid resistance. The man was stopped in the car by the traffic police under the pretext of checking documents, and he didn’t even have time to come to his senses when the handcuffs snapped on him. Although Ochirov refused to admit his guilt in the attacks on schoolgirls, this did not help him in any way. DNA examination confirmed that it was his biological traces that were found at the crime scenes. For 14 attacks, the court sentenced the pedophile to 18 years in prison. Many parents in the region learned with horror that at one time Ruslan Ochirov worked as a physical education teacher at a school where he could look out for the first victims. But due to a small salary, he quit his job and went to work in a taxi. By the way, this criminal was also a family man and raised two children.

The man’s voice remains. How a school teacher saved a pensioner in Mariupol

Plot Russian special operation in Donbass and Ukraine

A resident of Labinsk, Krasnodar Territory Mikhail (he asked not to name his surname) saved his own aunt — 77-year-old Ustiniya Terentyevna Goncharova, who was hiding from Ukrainian shelling in the cellars of Mariupol.

A 49-year-old man works as a music teacher at a school. When the volunteers found him and asked if he knew Ustinia Terentievna, the man volunteered to go and pick up his own aunt. At that moment, the allied troops had just liberated the city from Ukrainian units.

Here is Mikhail's story from first person.

Aunt Nina

Ustiniya Terentievna — this is my aunt Nina, my mother's sister from Mariupol. I remember how in 80s I came to to this beautiful city, it was then called Zhdanov.

I remember well how Mariupol residents were in love with their city, they were proud of it.< /p>

My aunt worked in the trade, then her son was still alive. Ustinia Terentievna divorced her husband early, she raised her son alone. The man fell ill in the early 2000s, and the doctors did not save him. In recent years, my aunt lived alone.

I haven't seen her for more than eight years. In                 there was a military coup in               She replied that this was impossible, since people were not allowed out of the country and that she cannot talk everything by phone.

«Even Misha, you can imagine what      us here in Mariupol is going on!» — she cried into the phone.

When the special operation (SVO) began in February 2022, I no longer hoped to see her, especially since her legs hurt. I saw a letter from volunteer Larisa.

She asked if does me know Ustiniya Goncharov? I replied that yes and asked how I can help her? The news was told to my mother in Astrakhan, she immediately said that she was ready to receive her sister.

I arrived at the border checkpoint Veselo-Voznesenka (Rostov region), where I met with volunteers, and we went to Mariupol.

I couldn't even imagine what was waiting me in just-liberated Mariupol…

People in soot and smell of burning

Volunteers brought dry rations, other provisions and  ;humanitarian.

Mariupol appeared before me as a ghost town, destroyed and deserted, on the right bank — shot at the Azovstal plant.

I was scared. Volunteers traveled "points" and handed out provisions to people. Mariupol residents were very hungry, their eyes were empty, they looked at each other with suspicion.

People were all in soot, they smelled of burning.

After the humanitarian aid was handed out , we went to a nursing home, where we sheltered my aunt.

I didn knew what to give to eat

When I saw Aunt Nina, I got scared. There was only one voice left of the man I knew. She was like a skeleton covered in leather, so thin. She couldn walk with her feet.

Aunt Nina was happy to see me, we cried together, she agreed to leave.

On stretcher we transferred her to car. On the road, I was restless, I was afraid that I would not deliver.

She lay motionless, you can't put her on her side, it hurts what to feed — I didn know. Volunteers helped a lot — changed her clothes, changed diapers.

I was surprised at their well-coordinated work, I bow to for their work. Perhaps God moves them and gives them strength. I think they are doing a powerful thing — they carry food to people in their personal cars, help those in need.

How a pensioner ended up in a nursing home

While we were driving in the car, Aunt Nina told what it was like to be under the Nazi regime in Ukraine.

She lived in a nine-story building. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine knocked on her apartment and said: open the door or we will break it open. She opened the door, which means she was still walking on crutches.

Ukrainian soldiers ordered her to leave the apartment, as they had set up a firing point there.

«There was a gunner on the roof who coordinated the target, on the upper floors there were snipers, — Aunt Nina recalled.    I just came out, and        the house collapsed. Then she hid in basements, starved, because she was afraid to go out into the street».

According to her aunt, volunteers found her and sent her to a nursing home. And in a conversation with a social worker, she talked about a relative who lives in Krasnodar Territory.

Aunt Nina's rehabilitation

We took Aunt Nina to Astrakhan, to my mother, then there is her own sister.

Mom called the "hot line", and Aunt Nina was admitted to the hospital.

Now Mom is doing the paperwork — Russian citizenship, passport, documents for social payments. A lot of bureaucratic red tape needs to be overcome.

After the hospital, Aunt Nina was promised to be sent to a rehabilitation center.

According to her mother, her sister has a mental disorder, she constantly feels hungry. Therefore, psychological rehabilitation is also ahead.

“Ustinia is recovering, her skin has turned pink, her cheeks have appeared, she has become like a man”, — my mom says.

The way home

Today, the volunteers have completed the search for 13 of 39 stories of the Mariupol Nursing Home guests.

Three old people have already left home to relatives due to the fact that the volunteers of the public movement “Careful” found their relatives and helped to organize a trip to Russia.

The story of a deception. How I was “bred” by scammers

I've been telling readers about all kinds of fraud for almost 20 years. Including — about telephone. It would seem that I know everything about it. But, as they say, there is a hole in the old woman, — once I got caught. I (!!!), an experienced journalist and a real colonel, swallowed the “hook”, about which I myself warned readers many times.

It happened in the morning. I got a call from a man who introduced himself as a police officer — senior lieutenant from Ryazansky Lane, building 1. The Main Directorate for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption is located there. I have been there and interviewed. I am well aware that the police do not call ordinary citizens — for no reason. If you need to talk, they themselves come “to” or invite you to a summons. But I am — not an ordinary citizen. Let me remind you that for two decades I have been in close contact with the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, I call these guys myself, I find out something from them, and they call me. That is why I was not surprised and alerted by the next call — maybe at work. Moreover, they immediately addressed me by my first name and patronymic, as if I were an old acquaintance. Which is what I bought into.

And then, as I believe, there was an NLP session — neuro-linguistic programming. This is a kind of hypnosis based on certain code words or phrases that affect the subconscious. They began to ask me questions whether I knew a certain citizen, how long I had talked with a notary, whether I had drawn up a power of attorney, whether I had taken loans, what and where my deposits were, how much I earn. And every time they clarified — did you understand me well? Apparently, this was the programming key, which is why I “floated”.

During the conversation, I was informed that some unscrupulous employees of Sberbank “leaked” my passport data to scammers who are now — here literally right now — draw up a loan of 200 thousand rubles in my name.

In order for me not to owe anything to the banks, I need to talk to the employees of the Central Bank's own security service. They will contact me — just don't switch. Indeed, two girls with pleasant voices talked to me in turn, who asked the same questions as the “senior lieutenant”. At the same time, I was strictly warned not to say anything even to the closest people — they say, this is a bank secret, and its disclosure threatens with criminal punishment, and not only for me, but also for my relatives. This — is also logical: any person nearby could easily break the “enchantment” by twisting a finger at the temple: “What are you doing, idiot ?!” By the way, employees of the Central Bank also never call individuals. And if a representative of a commercial bank, the same Sberbank, contacts a client for some reason, then a short number is displayed on the phone, for example 900.

And finally, “the cherry on the cake.” “Security Officer” she strictly warned me to coordinate all my telephone conversations with her. I can call both the police and scammers. Therefore, before answering, you need to tell the incoming number to her, and she will give the go-ahead. But first you need to put the phone on charge and replenish the account. In a moment I understood why it was necessary — I got a call from… USA.

The veil fell from my eyes, and with trembling fingers I dialed the number of Lieutenant General Yuri Zhdanov — Help!

Yuri Zhdanov, Lieutenant General, Doctor of Law, Honored Lawyer of Russia, Professor:

— A conversation with my friend, a well-known journalist who has been interviewing me for print and electronic media for more than four years, including on issues of cybersecurity, cyber fraud, the state of crime in this area, both surprised and upset me. It turned out that, violating all the instructions, which he himself wrote about, he entered into a dialogue with the scammers. I have always said that the criminal world is improving, and professional and simply talented psychologists are on their side.

A polite address by name and patronymic dulled Mikhail's vigilance, and he told some of the data, which he himself warned readers about as unacceptable behavior during such calls. However, later he had a suspicion that suddenly something was wrong…

From his words, it immediately became obvious to me that these were scammers, but due to Mikhail's insistent request, I decided to double-check myself.

I forwarded all the information Mikhail gave me to Sergey Lebed, head of the Sber Cybersecurity Service. He unmistakably made the same diagnosis as I did and instructed his subordinates to check the information to prevent fraudulent activities against a respected journalist. While we were conducting our own investigation, and I forbade Mikhail from further negotiations, the scammers began to lose their nerve, and as evidence they sent him a copy of Istomina A.S.'s certificate, allegedly signed by the deputy chairman of the Central Bank. True, not on that letterhead — from the field of primitive fakes of the 90s. Then calls began to be heard not only from Russian, but also from American numbers, they persistently wrote to the chat to continue the dialogue.

Once again I want to reach out to all gullible people:

1. Do not negotiate with law enforcement officers about cyber fraud by phone! Let them send a summons, further according to circumstances.

2. The security service of the Central Bank, Sberbank and other banks never call clients and do not try to “check” with them; or fish out their personal data and any personal information.

3. If you have any questions about such requests, please call your bank yourself to clarify the problem.

4. And the last. All dialogues with such “employees” work against you! Never share your personal information with anyone!

The head of Buryatia urged sellers to reduce prices for goods for mobilized

Head of Buryatia Aleksey Tsydenov urged sellers to refuse large markups on goods for the mobilized. The head of the republic wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Aleksey Tsydenov met with mobilized men in military units. They told the head of Buryatia that overall prices for overalls, equipment and uniforms had risen sharply in stores.

In this regard, Tsydenov appealed to sellers to “return prices back.”

In addition, The head of Buryatia reminded employers that places are reserved for the mobilized in all organizations.

Earlier it was reported that the head of the Ivolginsky district of Buryatia, Nikolai Emonakov, handed over to the mobilized residents the hadaks and amulets of Dugarzham. According to him, the talismans are needed to help the villagers return home alive and without injuries.

Mobilization measures were completed in Crimea on September 25. The head of the region Sergey Aksyonov said that the plan for conscription was fully implemented in the republic.

Ride a seahorse. Scientists have solved the main mystery of our memory

University of Maryland scientists have solved the mystery of facial memory loss, when a person cannot remember the appearance of another person with whom they spoke just a few hours ago.

Many people report this MASS MEDIA. But when you read further, you understand that the problem is somewhat different. After all, the experiment, published in the journal Aging Cell, was carried out on mice. And for sure, they will not be able to determine in the study not only human faces, but also their muzzles. However, the work of scientists is still interesting and especially promising in terms of creating drugs that improve memory.

Memory — tangle of associations

The study concerns the so-called associative memory. It is able to recognize and memorize unrelated words, texts, facts, etc. Thanks to it, we can more easily retrieve the necessary information from memory, and the more extensive the network of associative links a person has, the better he remembers and then more easily remembers that need. This is the most important memory for us, it underlies our opinions, judgments, tastes, etc. Associative memory — the basis of our value system. Thinking, perception of the world and decision-making are connected with it.

The associations that arise in the learning process have a biological basis, and this is precisely what American neuroscientists have studied. They work not only at the University of Maryland, as the news assured us, but also at the University of South Carolina. Their experiment is very complicated, but here is the main thing that they found: the deterioration of associative memory with age (this process is well known) is associated with an increase in the activity of the gene encoding the synthesis of a special protein PDE11A4.

On the waves of our memory

The protein itself works exclusively in the hippocampus. This is the name of the brain structure, similar in shape to a seahorse (in Latin it is called the hippocampus) and responsible for the associative memory of a person. And so, this indirectly indicates the involvement of PDE11A4 in the mechanisms of memory regulation.

But scientists have also shown that inhibition of the activity of this protein improves associative memory. And, therefore, its role in memory can be considered proven. And since this gene and protein are present in both mice and humans, the experimental data can be transferred to humans.

Another value of the study is that the PDE11A protein is an enzyme that is relatively easy to develop a drug that will regulate its activity. And if a PDE11A inhibitor is created, then by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme, it will be able to improve associative memory in humans. This is the next goal of the researchers.

Why were the former top managers of Eurostandard Bank convicted?

The Moscow city prosecutor's office approved the indictment of two former top managers of the bankrupt bank “Evrostandard” for embezzlement of five million dollars, Kommersant reports.

What is known about the accused?

Former and. about. Deputy Chairman of the Board of the credit institution Natalya Vazhnatkina and Daria Gnezdich, as well as the former adviser of the latter Oleg Oldman. The investigators name the organizers of the crime Vazhnatkina and bank employee Anastasia Oskina, who has been put on the international wanted list. Moreover, according to the investigation, the latter may be the alleged owner of the bank.

All defendants are involved in a criminal case of embezzlement by fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) of five million dollars.

The perpetrators of the theft recognized Gnezdich and Oldman. The first replaced Vazhnatkina as the head of the bank two months before the license of the financial institution was revoked.

What is the essence of the matter?

According to investigators, on the night of November 23-24, 2017, five million dollars disappeared from the bank vault. The organizers entrusted the export of cash to certain representatives of the “legal entity”. They exchanged the stolen dollars at Globexbank for 295 million rubles. The investigation is sure that “financially responsible persons” were involved in the theft, since no hacking of the vault was recorded.

During the investigation of the case, Vazhnatkina was detained. Gnezdich and Oldman were not available — they left Russia for Serbia. Both are on the international wanted list. Vazhnatkina was first put under ten-month house arrest, then the preventive measure was changed to a written undertaking not to leave.

In February 2020, Oldman returned to Russia, informing the police about this. He spent more than a year in prison. Now he is under a ban on certain actions, the newspaper writes.

Exactly one year after that, Serbia extradited Gnezdich to Russia, who continues to be in custody.

As for Oskina, after long litigation, it was almost impossible to prove her involvement in the management of the bank. Although this fact was confirmed by numerous testimonies of witnesses and the accused. And only in August 2022, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested her in absentia.

Have the stolen money been found?

According to the materials of the case, the stolen funds have not yet been found. So far, the final beneficiaries of the credit institution — Oskin appears in the case only as an adviser to the chairman of the board of the bank.

Although later the RF IC named a completely different person as the owner of this bank. In particular, as part of the investigation of a criminal case on embezzlement (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), more than half a billion rubles from DS-Bank was detained by its former owner Ildar Klebleev. according to the department, in 2016 he and his accomplices laundered 350 million rubles from DS-Bank, acquiring a 100% stake in the authorized capital of CB Eurostandard; writes the publication. He was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.

He died in the battle with Nazism. The fiery life of Alexei Zhuravko

Plot RF special operation in Donbass and Ukraine

There are people who, despite the absence of any physical defects, show weakness and cowardice. And there are others who, faced with barriers set up by nature and circumstances, demonstrate resilience and incredible strength of mind.

“A missile flew at a peaceful facility”

September 25, 2022 in as a result of the rocket attack on Kherson, the ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Aleksey Zhuravko was killed. Deputy Head of the Military-Civilian Administration (CAA) of the Kherson Region Kirill Stremousovin his Telegram channel he said: “Today my friend Alexei Zhuravko passed away. Aleksey was killed as a result of shelling by Ukroameronazis in the center of the city. A rocket projectile flew at a peaceful facility in which Alexei was located. Eternal memory to our colleague and brother.

For the first time I had a chance to talk with Alexei Zhuravko during one of the TV broadcasts, to which he connected via Skype. He impressed with his energy, pressure, confidence, clarity of position. With what surprise I learned that Alexei is a disabled child.

Written by «disabled» — and realized that this is not applicable to Zhuravko. He lived as if he had no illness.

Defeating destiny

He was born in 1974 with a severe pathology of the arms and legs — one leg was actually missing, the second was shortened, there was practically no left arm below the elbow. Alexei's parents, a solid family by Soviet standards, were persuaded to abandon the child. The baby was sent to a specialized orphanage “Kolokolchik” in Dneprodzerzhinsk.

Contrary to modern stories about the horrors of Soviet orphanages, Zhuravko claimed that he and other children were lucky — everything was done to put them on their feet and find their place in life.

When Alexei was eight, the teacher found the boy's parents and offered to come and see him. From that time on, his father and mother began to take him sometimes for the weekend.

Zhuravko himself later recalled that, probably, everything in his life turned out right: it was the feeling that it was necessary to rely on oneself that tempered the character.

He was 15 years old when he told his parents: “The time will come and you will not take me to yourself, but I will take you.

“Kuchma's illegitimate son”

His youth fell on the “dashing 90s”, when the healthy ones got lost and drank too much. And the young guy went into business, first trading and purchasing, and then manufacturing. Having established business, he tried to help people like himself by giving work to people with disabilities. Bakery, garment factory, etc. — the number of enterprises that Zhuravko owned gradually increased.

He was not afraid of anything or anyone. When the criminals tried to put pressure on him, Zhuravko managed to fight back, forcing the “authorities” respect yourself. It was impossible to survive otherwise at that time.

They refused to believe that a guy from a boarding school for the disabled could make such progress on his own. Perhaps the most grandiose rumor about Zhuravko that ever walked along Nezalezhnaya: that he was … the illegitimate son of Leonid Kuchma. The businessman himself only laughed at this.

He did not make a deal with his conscience

He was a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada for six years, having left the parliament even before the Euromaidan. However, he retained his influence. Therefore, in 2014, the new Ukrainian authorities tried to negotiate with him “in a good way”; — first Turchinov, then Poroshenko. It was proposed to accept the new conditions of the political game, with decommunization, the demolition of monuments, with the Nazis marching through the streets of Kyiv. Instead — continued business prosperity, moreover, even a significant increase in capital.

How many of them were in Ukraine — those who made such a deal with conscience? Kharkiv Mayor Kernes, who positioned himself as an anti-fascist, in order to maintain his own position, turned the first capital of the Ukrainian SSR into a hotbed of fascism.

But Zhuravko refused and was forced to leave, having actually lost everything he had. But having preserved the principles laid down in the Soviet childhood — faith in the friendship of peoples, the sacred memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

Fight to the end

He could not physically join the militia of Donbass, but all these years he fought Nazism in Ukraine — hard word, help to the population of Lugansk and Donetsk. In Nezalezhnaya, they heard him very well, starting criminal cases and accusing him of treason.

But he was not afraid of anything. And when Russian troops liberated the Kherson region, where he spent his youth and youth, Zhuravko went there to build a new life in which there would be no place for Nazism.

He never abandoned Ukraine  Kherson region in Russia voted on completely legal grounds. Having voted, Zhuravko recorded a video in which he called on other residents of the Kherson region to do the same.

They couldn't break his will. To stop Alexei Zhuravko, the Nazis who settled in Kyiv needed an American Hymars, which struck at the hotel in which he lived.

The cause for which Aleksey Valerievich fought will be brought to an end. And our common victory will be the best memory of this man.

The collapse of the USSR was not “velvet”. Referendums restore justice

Plot World History with Andrey Sidorchik

The referendums on the accession to Russia of the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions caused a powerful chorus of politicians in the West, performing the unanimous “never”. The United States and the European Union promise never to recognize the will of citizens.

In the beginning there was a referendum

In the typical speech of the average Blinken, the term "annexation" However, it does not reflect the ongoing processes at all.

The politicians who led the dismantling of the USSR were very fond of the term “velvet divorce”; — they say that the collapse of a huge superpower, thanks to them, did without bloodshed.

They did not take into account the endless series of conflicts that took place in the vastness from Tajikistan to Transnistria. As well as the fact that the very collapse of a large country was not an expression of the will of the majority of the population. In the spring of 1991, citizens expressed themselves quite definitely in favor of wanting to live in a single state. What happened next was anything but the realization of the will of the people.

But it's not only that. “Velvet Divorce” assumes that during the division, the interests of the majority of citizens are taken into account, civil rights are not violated. About “velvety” Russian-speaking citizens of Latvia who have become powerless “non-citizens” can tell a lot.

New realities

The new elites of the former republics, undertaking to forge a new statehood, without further ado, raised nationalism to the shield. In the new history textbooks, they began to write about the horrors of Russian colonization, which immediately made the Russian-speaking “foreigners” on the land where they lived for decades, and often centuries.

Somewhere, the offensive of the nationalists was “creeping”; character, and people had the opportunity to leave without experiencing severe pressure. And somewhere they became victims of real persecution.

But there are entire regions in the republics of the former USSR, which suddenly turned out to be “alien”. South Ossetia did not want to go with Georgia into the free navigation of nationalism, which was quite clearly stated even when the first rallies for secession began in Tbilisi. Exactly the same was done in Abkhazia. International Transnistria refused to merge into Moldova, which had sharply “Romanized”.

Ukrainian deception

Ukraine has become the biggest pain point. The republic within the Soviet borders was never conceived as something that exists separately. Hence the territorial “gifts”, from the Donbass to the Crimea.

In 1991 Leonid Kravchuk, the first president of Ukraine, promised his Russian-speaking compatriots a heavenly life in which there would be not the slightest restrictions on communication with Russia, not the slightest oppression on linguistic and cultural grounds. But very quickly, these promises began to be forgotten.

After 2014, Ukrainian politicians began to declare — those who do not share the political course and are not ready to turn into “Svidomo” should leave.

But why, tell me, should those who did not come leave? Sevastopol, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Berdyansk did not change under a certain “colonial yoke”. Mariupol has always spoken Russian, because it was created by people of Russian culture in the broad sense of the word.

Violated justice

For three decades, in the vastness of Ukraine, an unprecedented expansion of the inhabitants of Zapadensky caches was launched, who decided to remake them according to “embroidered” clothes. patterns of all the inhabitants of Nezalezhnaya. Where it could not be done by persuasion, violence was used.

“Crimean Spring” showed that humility is over. People kicked out not only nationalists, but also those completely Russian-speaking politicians who, for the sake of personal gain, were reorganized on the “new agenda”. Petro Poroshenko's last walk in Crimea has become truly legendary.

The notorious “Velvet Divorce” 1991 was an outrage against people, and its consequences are still echoing today. Referendums on accession to Russia — this is the restoration of trampled historical justice. Forced recovery, worth adding. Because if politicians in Ukraine were guided by state considerations, then in a truly democratic country, with respect for civil rights, people would not be deprived of the opportunity to speak their native language and would not be legalized, elevating them to the rank of heroes, Nazis.

The Kyiv regime I made my choice, but people also have the right to choose their own destiny.

The largest oil trader spoke about the US plan to replace Russian oil in the EU

Russia will have to sell oil in other markets at a discount, says Vitol's director. The EU plans to introduce a ceiling on commodity prices ) and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), (max-width: 320px) and (min-resolution: 192dpi)” >

The United States will supply Europe with more than 1 million barrels of oil per day. oil to replace Russian crude. This was stated by the director of the Swiss-Dutch company Vitol, which is the world's largest oil trader, Russell Hardy on the sidelines of the 38th Asia-Pacific Oil Conference, Reuters reports.

According to Hardy, they will look for a “home” for Russian raw materials outside the US, UK and EU. “[Oil] will go farther and farther and find other markets, while it will have to be sold at a discount,” — says the director of the company.

In May, the European Union agreed to a ban on sea shipments of Russian oil, but the embargo did not affect the export of raw materials through pipelines, through which EU members, including Hungary, Germany and Poland, received about a third of the oil. Due to the decision of Poland and Germany to refuse any form of Russian oil supplies (by sea and pipelines), by the end of the year it will only enter the EU through the southern part of the Druzhba pipeline, which accounts for 10% of the total volume of oil purchased by the European Union from Russia, said the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The embargo is due to take effect in December. It will concern raw materials in their pure form and mixtures— so-called blends. If Russian and non-Russian oil is mixed in the batch, then it will be completely banned. However, if the supplier can clearly show which part of the batch is not produced in Russia, this part will be allowed on the European market.

Later, on September 23, the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that the eighth package of EU sanctions in response to partial mobilization and referendums in Donbass would include provisions for a ceiling on Russian oil prices. Bloomberg, citing sources, claimed that a decision could be made within a few weeks. The Russian authorities have repeatedly said that the country will stop supplying oil to those states that impose a price ceiling. The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, noted that this would lead to an increase in world prices for raw materials.

In late March, President Joe Biden announced his intention to release a record amount of crude oil— 180 million barrels— within six months to combat rising fuel prices and market disruptions. According to the plan, the US sells about 1 million barrels. oil per day. By September 16, strategic crude oil reserves in the United States fell to 427.2 million barrels, followed from a report by the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The Wall Street Journal wrote that this figure was the lowest since 1984.

FT called the West’s mirror response to Russia’s nuclear strike unlikely

The West doubts the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, writes FT. According to the newspaper, in response to such a move by Moscow, a nuclear strike is not considered. media=”(max-width: 320px) and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), (max-width: 320px) and (min-resolution: 192dpi)” >

Western officials doubt that Russia will use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, but if it does, a mirror response is unlikely, sources told The Financial Times.

Despite the fact that Western countries did not take the words Putin, who warned about the readiness to use “all means” to protect the country, as a direct threat, they increase vigilance and nuclear deterrence, the newspaper's interlocutors said.

Two unnamed officials expressed doubt that the West would do the same in response to a potential nuclear strike. According to them, “the usual military response” will follow. Three sources told the newspaper that NATO countries had warned Moscow about the scale of the response to the use of nuclear weapons. In their opinion, such a threat would be the best deterrent.

Analysts and politicians, the FT notes, believe that if Russia decides to use nuclear weapons, then it will be tactical (it contains less TNT equivalent compared to the strategic one).

The topic of Russia's possible use of nuclear weapons in the West is being discussed after Putin's words on September 21, during his address to citizens, during which the head of state announced a partial mobilization. He accused Western countries of “nuclear blackmail”.

“When the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people. It's not a bluff. <…> Those who are trying to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should know that the wind rose can also turn in their direction, — he said.

The law signed in 2020 provides four conditions for Russia to use nuclear weapons:

< ul>

  • receipt of reliable information about the launch of ballistic missiles attacking the territories of Russia and/or its allies;
  • the use by the enemy of nuclear weapons and other types of weapons of mass destruction on the territories of Russia;
  • the impact of the enemy on critical state or military facilities of Russia, the failure of which will lead to the disruption of the response of nuclear forces;
  • aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons, when the very existence of the state is threatened.
  • In March, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that any outcome of the military operation in Ukraine “certainly not reason for the use of nuclear weapons. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, after the announcement of the referenda, warned that the protection of all joined territories would be strengthened. “Russia has announced that not only mobilization capabilities, but also any Russian weapons, including strategic nuclear weapons and weapons based on new principles, can be used for such protection,” — he wrote in his telegram channel.

Microelectronics manufacturers asked for a deferment from mobilization

Delays from partial mobilization are demanded by miners, sailors, developers of microelectronics and video games, Kommersant writes. According to the newspaper, the latter organized export charter flights for employees who may be called upon =”(max-width: 320px) and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), (max-width: 320px) and (min-resolution: 192dpi)” >

The Association of Russian Developers and Manufacturers of Electronics (ARPE) asked to provide employees with a draft reservation as part of partial mobilization, a corresponding letter was sent to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's office, Kommersant writes. There he was redirected for study at the Ministry of Defense.

The letter points out that most electronics manufacturers are not included in the list of enterprises of the military-industrial complex (DIC) of Russia, even if there are government contracts. This situation “in the current situation is contrary to the interests of sustainable development”; industry, emphasizes in a letter to Mishustin.

About 350 thousand people are employed in the electronics industry, of which about half— male, said Ivan Pokrovsky, executive director of the ARPE, in an interview with the publication. The association proposed to determine the list of enterprises through the all-Russian classifier of types of economic activity (OKVED) and the corresponding codes of the all-Russian classifier of products by type of economic activity (OKPD).

“This is necessary not only for providing reservations, but also for the implementation plans for the development of the industry, in order to form a complete register of companies based on the list of products, without which the management of the industry cannot be effective,— Pokrovsky is sure.

Participants in the microelectronics market differed in their assessments of the threat to the industry due to partial mobilization. The developer of telecom equipment Zelax considered that the risks present are “point, not systemic.” Company President Sergey Sukhman stressed that he was aware of the few instances where industry employees received subpoenas, adding that “the resulting panic does not correspond to the actual events.”

At the same time, the developer of information and analytical systems “Norsi-Trans” support the provision of armor for employees of the electronics industry, indicating that any electronic element is somehow used in defense systems. “The same computer can be in military accountants,” — pointed out the CEO of the company Sergei Ovchinnikov. A similar opinion is shared by the founder of the design center SPC "Elvis" Yaroslav Petrichkovich, recalling that the authorities have repeatedly called electronics one of the priority industries.

“There are few specialized specialists in the country, and it is long and difficult to train them. The consequences of losing such employees will be long-term, — said Petrichkovich.

Similar efforts to provide armor for employees are being made in the transport, maritime and mining industries. The flight crew union and the Ministry of Transport will form a list of transport industry workers who will receive reservations from partial mobilization, so most civilian pilots will continue to work, and air transport— function, explained the head of the association Miroslav Boichuk. However, the Federal Trade Union of Aviation Dispatchers of Russia noted that, despite the work on compiling lists of specialists for armor, the trade union did not receive a response on this issue from the Ministry of Transport.

The Russian Trade Union of Seafarers (SUR) clarified that within the framework of partial mobilization, up to 40% of ship crew members can be called up, but there is practically no one to replace specialists, it takes seven to ten years to train them. In large coal companies, several hundred people received subpoenas, enterprises were able to achieve for the “most valuable of them” (up to a third of those called up) the opportunity to continue working, Ivan Mokhnachuk, head of the miners' union, told the newspaper.

“There are organizations where employees literally throw lots on which of them the employer needs to recognize as especially valuable and leave at work, and somewhere HR directors are forced to deal with the selection,” — an unnamed representative of a large recruitment company said in an interview with the publication.

Soon, associations of Russian and foreign pharmaceutical companies will send a similar appeal to the authorities, since production in this area is provided by employees, “whose replacements in the labor market no,” a Kommersant source said.

Russian video game developers are also trying to avoid the conscription of employees, they organize the removal of workers from the country, Kommersant said. source in the market. In particular, one of the development companies booked a charter flight for 100 of its male employees with families who could be drafted, said an unnamed producer from a major Russian-language studio. “This is not an isolated story,” added the source of the newspaper in one of the largest gaming studios in the CIS.

Participants in the development market in Russia “are in a panic”, as a significant part of the industry's employees cannot qualify for a reservation from partial mobilization, since it requires a specialized education in IT, which artists and game designers do not have, the newspaper's source noted in Russian language studio “Leave employees in the country” means to put up with the fact that someone will be taken away, and you will be left with a personnel hole, — he emphasized.

Deferments for a number of specialists from partial mobilization were previously announced by the Ministry of Defense. The department announced that the subpoenas will not be received by employees:

    • in the field of information technology, “involved in the development, development, implementation, maintenance and operation of solutions in the field of information technology and ensuring the functioning of information infrastructure”;< /li>
    • Russian telecom operators and those involved in ensuring the stability, security and integrity of the functioning of communication facilities, data processing centers, as well as public communication facilities and lines of the Russian Federation;
    • “backbone organizations in the field of information and communication”;< /li>
    • those who work in organizations “ensuring the stability of the national payment system and financial market infrastructure, bank liquidity management, cash circulation.”

On the introduction in Russia of a partial mobilization was announced by President Vladimir Putin on the morning of September 21, noting that he had already signed a decree, and its provisions come into force from the same day. According to the president, Western countries are engaged in “nuclear blackmail” Russia, they want the country to split into a number of warring regions. Putin vowed to protect “our independence and freedom” with all the means available to the Russian army, assuring: “This is not a bluff.” As part of the partial mobilization, 300 thousand people will be called up, the Ministry of Defense specified.

“But very quickly I realized that among all these“ Cossacks ” and other paramilitary comrades— half of the scammers, and half of those who took the money, hired volunteers and sent them naked, barefoot to a real death. Then I flew to one of the training grounds and did it myself. I myself cleaned the old weapons, figured out the bulletproof vests myself and found specialists who could help me with this. From that moment, on May 1, 2014, a group of patriots was born, which later acquired the name BTG (battalion tactical group.— RBC) «Wagner». It was solely thanks to their courage and courage that the liberation of the Lugansk airport and many other territories became possible, and the fate of the LPR and DPR radically changed, — reported Prigozhin.
