WP learned that the FBI is investigating the case of US chips in Russian military equipment

US authorities have begun investigating the supply chain of American-made chips to Russia. The researchers found them in Russian military equipment that is involved in the hostilities in Ukraine jpg” alt=”WP has learned that the FBI is investigating the case of US chips in Russian military equipment” />

FBI agents, together with the US Department of Commerce, began investigating the case of US chips in Russian military equipment, which is involved in military operations in Ukraine. The Washington Post writes about this, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

Department officials come to the offices of technology companies to learn about how Western chips and other components ended up in Russian radar systems, drones, tanks, ground control equipment and coastal ships.

A lawyer for one such American company told publication that investigators are studying many different chips and electronic components. They have a list of companies, he said, including intermediaries who may have passed products through the supply chain.

In April, a team of researchers from the Royal United Armed Forces Institute (RUSI) found computer chips from 12 American companies in Russian technology in Ukraine. Based on the ID numbers, WP determined that the list included Intel, Analog Devices, Texas Instruments, and Onsemi, as well as components from six chip manufacturers in Europe, Japan, and Taiwan.

The publication asked several American companies about the supply of electronics to Russia. Intel processor manufacturer spokesman William Moss said that for more than a decade the company has sold products to Russia through distributors who are responsible for complying with US export control regulations.

The — Semiconductor supplier Onsemi indicated that it stopped manufacturing one of the chips it found in Russian equipment back in 2008. Like chip maker Texas Instruments, the company stressed that it does not sell any products to Russia or Belarus. The developer of more than a dozen components for Russian military equipment, Analog Devices, did not answer questions from WP.

One of the authors of the report, Nick Reynolds, said that Western chips were installed in Borisoglebsk-2 radio interference equipment, which was produced in 2015 or later. The group's researchers found an American fiber-optic gyroscope inside a Russian 9M949 guided missile.

At the same time, electrical engineers interviewed by the publication found that the elements were designed for general use, and not for the military. Most of them belong to the production of 2000-2010.

In addition, in May, a group of researchers of conflict weapons (Conflict Armament Research), after a visit to Ukraine, found in radio stations, on-board systems and the remains of Kh-59 Ovod cruise missiles. electronic components from 86 companies from the USA and Europe. At the same time, many parts were manufactured after 2014, including in 2019-2020.

One of the group's investigators, Damien Spleeters, said that the group found microcircuits with scratched markings inside two Russian radio stations in the Luhansk region of Ukraine. One set of parts manufactured in 2013-2018 was found in a rocket that fell in the central part of Ukraine on February 24. The group found another set of chips manufactured in 2017-2020 in a rocket after the attack on Nikolaev on March 29.

Since 2014, after the annexation of Crimea to Russia, the United States began to control the sale of high-tech elements to Russia for military use. The authorities required exporters to obtain a state license. At the same time, there were no restrictions on the supply of electronics for general use.

After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine in February, the United States banned the sale of any chips to the Russian military and imposed export restrictions on other buyers from Russia.

The head of the DPR ruled out pardoning or exchanging British prisoners for execution

Pushilin saw no reason for this. Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin are sentenced to death in the DPR as mercenaries. In the UK, they are considered prisoners of war, and the sentence is illegitimate

Sean Pinner

The DPR authorities do not plan to exchange or pardon the UK citizens Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin, sentenced to death, told Interfax. head of the republic Denis Pushilin.

“I don't see any grounds for this,”— reiterated the head of the DPR. The issue of exchange, he said, “is not even discussed.”

Elena Shishkina, chairman of the Committee on Criminal and Administrative Legislation of the People's Council of the DPR, stated that the exchange of the British was not planned even before they were sentenced.

Pinner and Aslin were accused in the DPR of participating in hostilities on the side of Ukraine in as mercenaries. The first one during the investigation stated that he worked as an instructor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was captured in April in Mariupol. Aslin, according to the Zvezda channel, was among the “voluntarily laid down their arms” Ukrainian marines in the same city.

The Supreme Court of the Republic on June 9 sentenced both Britons, as well as Moroccan Saadoun Brahim, to death. They were charged with Part 2 of Art. 34 (commission of crimes by a group of persons), art. 323 (forcible seizure of power or forcible retention of power) and Art. 43 (mercenarism) of the Criminal Code. The defendants partially pleaded guilty.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss called the court's decision illegitimate and fictitious. She stated that London is doing everything to release Pinner and Aslin and the issue is being resolved through the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. Truss also stressed that the British— prisoners of war and the actions of “Russian proxies” in relation to them violate the Geneva Convention. The Russian Foreign Ministry, as well as the DPR, believe that both Pinner and Aslin do not have the right to prisoner of war status.

Medvedev called the trip of Macron, Scholz and Draghi to Kyiv useless

Macron, Scholz and Draghi arrived in Kyiv on the morning of June 16. They plan to discuss with Zelensky military assistance and an application for Ukraine's accession to the EU. According to Medvedev, the trip of European leaders will not bring the parties closer to peace

A visit to Ukraine by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi is not useful and will not bring the parties closer to peace. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, stated this on Twitter.

“Here, European connoisseurs of frogs, liver and pasta love to visit Kyiv. Benefits— zero. Again they promised to join the EU, the old howitzers, the vodka and the train slammed, like 100 years ago, & mdash; home. And all is well. Only now this does not bring Ukraine closer to peace. And the clock is ticking, — written by a politician.

Macron, Scholz and Draghi arrived in Kyiv by train on the morning of June 16. The leaders of the three countries are going to discuss with Zelensky military assistance to Ukraine, as well as its application for accession to the European Union, writes the French edition Le Parisien.

Europe 1 radio station, citing sources, reported that during this visit, the French leader may announce the transfer to Kyiv of six more 155-mm Caesar self-propelled artillery pieces. The Italian newspaper La Stampa wrote that politicians plan to discuss with the President of Ukraine the issues of demining ports and unblocking grain corridors.

The Ukrainian capital was previously visited by the presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, as well as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. On June 11, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen met with Zelensky in Kyiv.

Ukraine's accession to the EU may not be as “harmless” as previously expected, as the union has “turned into an aggressive militant player who declares his ambitions far beyond the European continent,” Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. Russia also believes that the West is committing a “war crime” by supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Aksyonov commented on the statement of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine about the Crimea

Photo: Natalia Gubernatorova

Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov responded with a proverb to the statement of the Ukrainian Minister of Defense. Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Marchenko told the Ukrainian media earlier that the Crimean bridge would be the No. 1 target for defeat. For this, he believes, it is necessary that the Ukrainian troops be supplied with appropriate weapons from the United States and Europe.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, in an interview with CNN, also contributed to the “idea of an ally”, saying that the new Western weapons will allow Ukraine to return the Crimea.

«A fool gets richer with his thought», — commented on such statements by the head of the Crimea. “New Western weapons will help Ukraine lose the remaining territories,” Aksenov wrote in his Telegram channel —  This is the harsh reality, he noted. more and more they remind Aksenov of the employees of the “Reich Chancellery in 1945”. “The same feverish idiocy and insane speeches,” — compared the head of the Crimea.

Peskov appreciated reports of Putin’s plans to announce “mobilization” at SPIEF

Photo: Natalia Gubernatorova

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on media reports about Vladimir Putin's alleged plans to announce “mobilization”. The head of state, according to the information, may announce the decision during his speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 17.

However, the Kremlin speaker refutes these data. According to him, the relevant foreign publications are false stuff.

Earlier, Western media have repeatedly published fake information about the alleged decision to declare “mobilization” in Russia. In May, these data were denied by the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. During the III educational marathon of the Russian society “Knowledge” he declared that everyone “should mobilize themselves and stand around the president.” According to him, this is patriotism.

Before that, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia does not plan to introduce martial law because of the situation in Ukraine. Also, Peskov has already called the rumors about the impending “mobilization” nonsense. Later, State Duma deputy Yuri Shvytkin said that under reports of a general “mobilization” allegedly being prepared in the Russian Federation, there is not and will not be any reason.

Ukrainian Defense Minister announces plan to return Crimea with Western weapons

“This is Ukrainian territory”

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said in an interview with CNN that the country is going to return Crimea with the help of weapons provided by the West.

Photo: Social networks

According to the head of the defense department of the republic, Crimea is a strategic goal for Kyiv, because “it is Ukrainian territory.”

p>

Reznikov also named three stages of stabilizing the situation in the country: to prevent further losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; push back Russian troops to their positions before the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine on February 24; discussion with Ukraine's partners on “how to liberate territories, including Crimea”.

The Russian Federation launched a special military operation in Ukraine on 24 February. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goal the demilitarization and denazification of the republic, as well as the protection of the people of Donbass. To do this, according to the Russian leader, it is planned to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” region. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian army strikes only at the military infrastructure and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU).

Peskov announced security guarantees for the Crimean bridge

Dmitry Peskov commented on the statements of Ukrainian military leaders who promised to attack the Crimean bridge as soon as they had Western weapons of the required range.

«The security of Crimea is guaranteed by preventive measures and additional measures taken by our military», — said Peskov, refusing to specify exactly what measures are being taken to protect the peninsula.

He added that this is not the first time that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have threatened to attack the Crimean bridge. “We know such threats and take them into account,” — stressed the Kremlin speaker.

Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Dmitry Marchenko said that the Crimean bridge will be “target number one” ; for the Ukrainian army after the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv.

The real term of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine is predicted

“Only our military victories will force Zelensky to dialogue”

Three European leaders – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, French President Emmanuel Macron – arrived in the VIP carriage of the special train to Kyiv. At the same time, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis arrived on a non-protocol visit. Analysts agree that the meeting with Zelensky will focus on peace talks with Russia and possible territorial concessions from Kyiv. Simply put, about the division of Ukraine. The only question is: does Russia need these negotiations now?

Global Look Press

The editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko shared his forecast for the outcome of today's meeting and the forecast for the further development of the situation with MK.

— In In any case, Russia has always said that along with a military solution, there is also a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian issue,” the expert recalls. – Another thing – and this is obvious – Zelensky will not make a diplomatic decision now.

He recalled: Vladimir Putin put forward a number of conditions on the first day of the start of the special operation. Ukraine refused to discuss them. This was followed by a series of negotiations in Belarus and Turkey. But again, the Ukrainian side interrupted them.

“My opinion is that the West is now trying to find some negotiation configurations, but there are two factors,” says Korotchenko. – The first factor: real negotiations can still begin only as a result of the catastrophic situation of the Ukrainian armed forces, and, consequently, the serious victories of the Russian army. Probably, this moment will come when the Ukrainian grouping in Donbas is finally destroyed or capitulates.

Given its size – from 50 to 70 thousand military personnel – this issue will not be resolved too quickly. That is, not in the coming weeks.

And the second factor is the UK. Still, as one of the moderators of internal political processes in Ukraine, she takes a categorical position of rejection of any peace agreements and stands for the war “to the last Ukrainian.”

In addition, the expert recalled that large-scale deliveries of Western weapons are now underway. Under these conditions, it is most likely difficult to count on concessions from Kyiv.

—My forecast is this,” the expert said, “perhaps by the beginning of autumn, Zelensky will be forced to take into account the critical state of the Ukrainian economy and industry. The factor of our military victories and the disastrous financial and economic state of affairs in Ukraine may nevertheless induce the Kyiv regime to practical negotiations. And before that, to be honest, I can hardly imagine the possibility of any negotiation configurations.

What kind of amphibious buggy did Russian scientists design for special forces?

Specialists of the Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces have developed a project for an amphibious buggy — a six-wheeled all-terrain vehicle designed to move over difficult terrain, including water, and to fight as part of tactical groups. The machine is characterized by high mobility, low visibility and good maneuverability.

Purpose

Military scientists justify the feasibility of creating such a buggy, referring to the difficulties of using existing models of such equipment in combat. Due to its large dimensions, it is noticeable to the enemy, it cannot be delivered by helicopter.

With an average speed of  all-terrain vehicles currently in service with the Russian army of 90 km/h during during the battle, this vehicle will have to constantly go to "peak capabilities", and this will affect both the resource of its units and assemblies, and on low fuel economy, which will lead to a reduction in the range of the platform.

Insufficient mobility coupled with low-speed maneuvering increase the risk of destruction. In addition, with a single entry, the personnel, upon detection of this vehicle, will not have time to dismount or leave the vehicle and will be destroyed.

In December last year, the Ministry of Defense decided to create units equipped with ultralight buggies in the Airborne Forces, the Marines and the Ground Forces. It was reported that the issue of the organizational structure of the new units, which will be equipped with ultralight buggy-type SUVs, is being worked out.

Amphibious buggy. www1.fips.ru

Benefits

The new buggy will be distinguished by lower specific pressure on support base (snow), increased cross-country ability and water flow, and selected and engine-transmission arrangement with chassis will give a gain in speed, handling and power reserve. The selected and calculated motor-transmission layout with the chassis will help to increase the speed.

The use of an all-terrain vehicle platform should increase the mobility of tactical military formations by increasing the maneuverability of the equipment used when performing combat missions.

Description

Multifunctional all-weather universal all-terrain vehicle with 6×6 wheel formula, contains wheels, engine, automatic transmission, pressurized body with passenger compartment, cargo compartment, suspension, swivel mechanism, drive gear, hermetic body, on both sides of which there are propellers — caterpillar, ski-caterpillar, half-track and jet.

Overall dimensions are about 4 meters in length and half round in width. This all-terrain vehicle platform is intended for use by tactical military formations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in various weather and climatic conditions with installed weapons and firing from  In depending on season and weather-climatic conditions, the MVTP is equipped with appropriate support-running modules.

Characteristics

Weight is 1.2 tons, speed — 120 kilometers per hour on land and 12 kilometers per hour on water. A submersible inlet propeller is provided in the rear part of the machine body, and the wheels are made with the possibility of installing caterpillars on them for movement in spring mud and mud or skis — in the snow.

The vehicle is designed to transport four people in full combat gear, it is possible to install two machine guns, one of which is large-caliber.

Is it true that traces of water have been found on the moon?

The team of Chinese scientists has determined where water comes on the moon. In 2020, China's Chang'e-5 lunar lander using an onboard spectrometer, he revealed hydrous rocks in the lunar soil. However, at that time, experts had questions about the origin of the detected liquid.

Where did the water on the moon come from?

The Chinese module actually detected hydroxyl-bearing rocks formed as a result of interaction with water. As laboratory analyzes have shown, the hydroxyl groups in lunar rocks come from two different sources. A small part of them was formed under the influence of the solar wind on the surface of the satellite (similar results were obtained when studying soil samples delivered to Earth by Apollo 11). The other was presented in the form of apatites. According to scientists, such a number of hydroxyl groups could not be formed only under the influence of the solar wind. Water also participated in their formation.

In a paper published in the journal Nature Communications, the researchers note that they found an average of 30 hydroxyl ppm in the samples. The main part of the hydroxyl (a group of organic and inorganic compounds in which the hydrogen and oxygen atoms are linked by a covalent bond) contained in apatite, which is formed both on the Moon and on Earth.

Scientists believe that water played an important role in the formation and crystallization of late lunar basalt magma.

Where exactly were the samples taken?

The samples were collected on the territory of the largest lunar plain — Ocean of Storms — during the hottest time of the lunar day, at a temperature of about 93 degrees Celsius when the surface was driest.

Rosprirodnadzor will spread ecological culture through schoolchildren

Story International Economic Forum 2022

It will be much easier to teach adults to proper environmental behavior if you influence them through schoolchildren, Svetlana Radionova, head of Rosprirodnadzor, believes.

With her development plans for the Ecology – everyone's business” she shared with aif.ru during XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

«This year we will award the authors of the best children's works on the theme of caring for the environment for the second time, – Radionova said. – For the first time, from March to November, we received only 10 thousand works, and this time – 5 thousand already by June. The works themselves this time are of a completely different quality: the children believed that they would be heard and vote for the environment with their hearts.

Last year's winners and prize-winners – 50 people – went on an ecological shift at Orlyonok. This year, until the end of the summer in “Eaglet” At least one and a half hundred young ecologists will visit, the head of Rosprirodnadzor is sure.

“All habits and skills are formed gradually,” Radionova added. – Children will instill a culture in us much faster. In this sense, each small person involved weighs much more than an adult who has already taken place.

Works for the Ecology – everyone's business” can be submitted to the jury until November.

Earlier Radionova announced the postponement of scheduled inspections by Rosprirodnadzor for two years.

What is known about the Dunyasha robot and who became its prototype?

At the Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in St. Petersburg, which opened on June 15, Perm developers presented a cyber-café where ice cream and coffee were sold by a humanoid robot Dunyasha. The spectacular blonde took orders and communicated with forum visitors, which caused a great stir.

What is known about Dunyasha?

Dunyasha — is a robot cashier with a human appearance, created by the “Promobot” company based on Robo-C -2.

According to the developers, the robot can meet people and recognize them when they meet again, as well as conduct a conversation, talking on free and programmed topics. In addition, the Dunyasha robot has a character.

"Dunyasha — easy to talk to, feminine, a little ironic and, of course, a responsible employee of a cyber cafe. Welcoming and friendly robot, which is always glad to see guests. It will be interesting to absolutely any age. In addition to ice cream and drinks, she has entertaining and educational interactives in her program. In a word, the buying process has never been so exciting for the whole family at once, — note the developers.

The — specialists are especially proud of this coating that imitates human skin, thanks to which Dunyasha does not look plastic doll.

“One of the main features of the new model is the hyper-realistic skin that our division in Vladivostok creates. It has high elasticity and is close in its characteristics to real human skin. This allows you to move the artificial muscles of the face as accurately as possible. Because of this, the most realistic facial expressions appear, — told "Izvestiya" founder and development director of “Promobot” OKivokurtsev lay down.

Dunyasha's face is moving. She can blink, move her eyebrows and lips. In her “memory” over 600 variants of human micromimicry, it imitates emotions as realistically as possible.

Perm robot Dunyasha. Photo: RIA Novosti/Grigory Skvortsov

Head, arms, neck also move. Robo-C-2's arms are capable of withstanding loads of up to one kilogram. For example, Dunyasha can show the direction or shake hands with the interlocutor.

“The process of passing commands to the hand is implemented using scripts. Scripts are created using special software in which our engineers work. Three modes are possible: basic gestures during communication, movements on a command from outside — you can ask the robot to make a gesture, for example, wave your hand, and on the command of a development engineer», — said Oleg Kivokurtsev in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Who became the prototype of Dunyasha?

Unlike impersonal robots, Dunyasha has a living prototype, or, as the developers say – social interface. It was the first Mrs. Perm 2014 Diana Gabdullina

According to the girl, the idea to make a robot with her appearance belongs to her husband — Perm businessman Rashid Gabdullin (he was the director of the Gorky Park in Perm, and now a partner of Promobot), who is also the author of the creation of a cyber cafe.

The robot was created on&nbsp for about six months. So, in order to achieve maximum similarity, the model's face was photographed 360 times.

“It was very exciting for me, at first I was very worried about how it would turn out, and now I I worry about Dunyasha. I really hope that everyone will love Dunyasha, and we will see Dunyasha in many places  in airports, malls, parks, offices», — told Diana to the journalists of the agency 78.ru.

By the way, Diana came to the forum in St. Petersburg in the same image as her robotic copy (a pink dress with white polka dots, beads and even the color of lipstick was chosen to match the spray on Dunyasha's lips).

does a humanoid robot cost?

Anyone can order a humanoid robot, it will cost about 15 million rubles, Fontanka writes. with reference to a representative of the Promobot company. Appearance — at the request of the customer.

«You can even order Justin Bieber for yourself if you arrange measurements with him», — told  « ;Fontanka» the developers of Dunyasha.

As the founder of Promobot noted; Oleg Kivokurtsev, you can already see Dunyasha in Perm (a cyber cafe in the Gorky Park opened this year), and soon a robotic cafe will open in Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other million-plus cities. Dunyasha will also go to the United Arab Emirates.

How to prosecute for advertising fraud?

The Federation Council called Zelensky’s clothes “comical” at a meeting with EU leaders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky violated etiquette and diplomatic canons by appearing at a meeting with EU leaders in clothes resembling a military uniform. Konstantin Dolgov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, told News.ru about this.

“The fact that he came out in some kind of military camouflage looks extremely comical, because Zelensky is far from everything, what is connected with the performance of military duty,” the politician said.

According to the senator, the President of Ukraine “lost orientation in space and the rules of decency.” He believes that if you imagine the Ukrainian leader at a meeting with partners in a suit, “the essence will not change.”

the senator said.

Dolgov concluded that Zelensky – “this is such a misunderstanding, so what is he wearing — absolutely don't care.

Zelensky appeared in front of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi in a khaki T-shirt. Foreign leaders arrived in Ukraine in a VIP car.

A man with a pitchfork against a cybertank. How to deal with phone scammers?

With the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the number of cyber attacks and cases of telephone fraud fell to almost zero, but then it began to grow rapidly again and now reaches 70% of the level at the beginning of the year, experts in the field of cybersecurity say. In the near future, this number may exceed last year's figures.

Although the Russian state's critical infrastructure successfully copes with cyber attacks, businesses and ordinary citizens are, in fact, defenseless against hackers and telephone scammers, the industry points out. Experts suggest moving from passive defense to an “active suppression” strategy. The authorities say the issue is being considered.

"We broke everything"

The situation in cyberspace turned out to be the focus of attention of officials, experts and business representatives at the panel session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The topic is very serious, the participants of the discussion emphasized, because the battles in cyberspace are no less difficult than on the fields of the DPR and LPR. said Deputy Chairman of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov. He described the situation in cyberspace as a large-scale cyber war against Russia. According to him, cyber strikes are carried out across our country from the territory of Ukraine, and the total number of people who are involved in them reaches 300,000 people. The number of cyberattacks has grown 15 times. The main blows were directed at the financial sector, logistics companies, and many others. 80 major services were temporarily blocked. Only the minimum damage suffered by Russian banks from reissuing cards as a result of cyberattacks exceeds 4.5 billion rubles, the deputy chairman of Sberbank noted. Domestic media were also hacked, through which they tried to spread various fakes.

«The number of telephone fraud cases dropped sharply in the first days of the special operation, but a month later it began to grow again and now reaches 70% of their level before the start operations. In the near future, it may surpass last year's level, — Kuznetsov said.

Now fraudulent call centers are moving from Ukraine to Western countries. “Any Russian can be under attack,” — emphasized the banker. According to him, data on 20 million citizens of the Russian Federation were found in one of the fraudulent call centers on the territory of Berdyansk.

But the critical Russian infrastructure is still coping with hacker attacks, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development Alexander noted Shoytov. According to him, it is still impossible to call what is happening a cyber war against Russia, because the Russian strategic infrastructure in cyberspace is not now facing anything that it has not encountered before. In general, the infrastructure survived largely due to the developed Russian digital industry, he stressed.

Is it possible to deal with telephone scammers?

The problems of combating telephone scammers remain the same, experts say. If their office is not in Russia, it is virtually impossible to hold them accountable. Now law enforcement agencies can actually only accept a statement of fraud. So far, there is no need to talk about real assistance, bringing criminals to justice, and even more so, the return of funds. “The situation is such that we are being bombed from cyber weapons, and we are lying in a trench, covering our heads with our hands,” — vice-president of Rostelecom described what was happening on cybersecurity Igor Lyapunov

The problem, he says, is that while there are a lot of leading experts in the field of cybersecurity and necessary technologies in Russia, business and ordinary people know little about it. “A tank shaft is coming at us in cyberspace, and our business and ordinary citizens are against it — it's like a man with a pitchfork, — he noted. There is no coordination of protection against cyberattacks by the state yet, Lyapunov complained: “Only slogans sound like:“ Hold the pitchfork, man, fight steadfastly! ””

The problem of the so-called “droppers” is now gaining momentum, said Stanislav Kuznetsov. These are people who, on the tip of scammers, withdraw funds from the cards of victims, and then forward them to scammers for a percentage. “In Russia alone, 500,000 people earn this. Isolated cases are known when they are brought to justice and go to jail. The problem is growing like a snowball, because quite recently there were about 200 thousand droppers, — noted the expert. According to him, Russian legislation should be modified to start attracting “droppers” responsibility.

British Foreign Minister urged to return Ukraine to the negotiating table

British Foreign Minister Truss: West must return Ukraine to the negotiating table aligncenter” src=”https://s0.rbk.ru/v6_top_pics/media/img/2/16/756553822508162.jpg” alt=”British Foreign Minister called for Ukraine to return to the negotiating table” />

Liz Truss

Western countries should support Ukraine in negotiations with Russia, strengthening the position of Kyiv. This was stated by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss during a speech in the House of Commons of Parliament.

“We will never allow Ukraine to be pressured to give up its territory, which we ourselves would never agree to . Through the G7 and NATO, we are doing everything we can to strengthen Ukraine's position [at the negotiating table]. We also need to make sure that our friends from the Baltic countries and Poland are involved in this process,— Truss said.

According to her, Russia has not yet “demonstrated” that it is in the mood for “serious negotiations.”

“Ukraine can and must win,”— concluded the British minister, promising that London would not deviate from its obligations to Kyiv, regardless of the duration of the conflict.

Truss stressed that the Russian side must not only be defeated in this conflict, but also not take any either profit, and also Moscow should be isolated on the world stage.

Earlier, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said that hostilities in Ukraine should end at the negotiating table and that the alliance is ready to help Kyiv take the strongest position in negotiations with Moscow.

He considered it possible to establish peace in Ukraine, the only question is the price— how much territory, how much freedom and democracy the country is willing to pay for this world.

French leader Emmanuel Macron also noted the day before that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would one day have to enter into negotiations with Russia.

Russia and Ukraine have held several rounds of negotiations since February 24 and passed proposals to each other to resolve the conflict, but in mid-May, the parties announced the suspension of the dialogue. According to the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, the discussion was frozen at the initiative of Kyiv.

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly spoken about his readiness for negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, the Kremlin emphasized that such a meeting is possible only after the delegations of the two countries draw up a draft peace agreement.

At the end of May, the Ukrainian leader announced that Kyiv would begin negotiations with Moscow after returning the territories over which he lost control during the hostilities.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced in early June that the West had forbidden Kyiv to continue negotiations with Moscow.

Belousov announced a crisis of confidence and a world without rules due to sanctions

Such a world is war, the Deputy Prime Minister is sure. “Responsible politicians” must agree on new rules, otherwise countries will start randomly forming coalitions, and the system of checks and balances will be lost

Andrey Belousov

The strongest blow that the sanctions inflicted on all countries without exception, — it is the “crisis of confidence” that has developed because of them; in the world, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov said at SPIEF.

“They showed that there are no rules. No rules at all. Whoever has a Colt is stronger,»,— he says.

Both the multipolar world and the unipolar world are based on certain rules, Belousov explained, and these rules are based on trust: “If the foundation of trust is knocked out, then a world without rules begins. A world without rules— what's this? This is war. In fact, this is a war— economic war, political war, whatever. He did not rule out a scenario in which each of the countries would “play for itself”: the United States, “undermining trust”, also undermined the foundation on which the system of checks and balances was based.

This situation, according to the deputy head of government, was superimposed on “a series of global crises.” Among them, Belousov named the pandemic, the energy crisis in Europe (even if it was “largely man-made”, partly the food crisis that became its consequence, as well as the climate crisis, “which has not disappeared anywhere.”

< p>

To resolve the current situation, Belousov proposed to develop rules. “But in what format? On what scale? <…> Who to negotiate?»— he asked questions. He called the present “the time of responsible politicians” who must agree on new rules. “If this does not happen within the next two or three years, then, most likely, another scenario— this is a scenario of spontaneous formation of coalitions, groups and so on,— he suggested.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the period of rethinking and building new communications with strategic partners, strengthening sovereignty and revising its foundations has come.

According to him, Putin is not going to announce the mobilization in his upcoming speech at the SPIEF .jpg” alt=”Peskov called false media reports about possible mobilization” />

The court in Ukraine banned the activities of the Sharia Party

Sharia's party has become the eighth opposition political force banned in Ukraine. Anatoly Shariy himself was detained in Spain in May, Kyiv demands his extradition alt=”The court in Ukraine banned the activities of the Party of Shariy” />

The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal of Lviv ruled to ban the activities of the Party of Anatoly Shariy in Ukraine, UNIAN reports with reference to the civil organization “Opora”.

The party was banned at the suit of the Ministry of Justice with the participation of a third party— Security Services of Ukraine (SBU). The property and assets of the party must become the property of the state. But, as the agency notes, the decision of the Lviv court can be appealed to the Supreme Court.

In March, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that during the martial law imposed due to Russia's special operation, the National Security Council (NSDC) Republic will suspend the activities of 11 political parties, as they have ties with Russia.

This list also includes the Sharia Party, which was established in 2015. Its founder Anatoly Shariy maintains a blog on YouTube, where he has over 3 million subscribers. He is known for his criticism of the Ukrainian authorities and his regular collaboration with Russian state TV channels. His party participated in the elections in 2019 and managed to get seats in several city councils. Shariy himself was denied registration as a candidate for deputy on the grounds that he does not live on the territory of Ukraine, which he left in 2012. In 2021, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against Shariy and his wife Olga.

In May 2022, Shariy was detained in Spain at the request of the SBU, since two criminal cases were opened against him in Ukraine— on treason and inciting national, racial or religious hatred and hatred (Articles 111 and 116 of the country's Criminal Code). According to the investigation, Shariy “carried out illegal activities to the detriment of the national security of Ukraine in the information sphere.” and acted “by order of foreign structures”, namely Russian ones. He faces 12 to 15 years in prison.

A court in Spain released Sharia on bail. “Ukrainian News” reported that Kyiv sent a request to Madrid for the extradition of the detainee, but this process could take up to a year, indicated in the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

In June, the Court of Appeal banned the activities of seven more parties: Nashi, Opposition Bloc, Volodymyr Saldo Bloc, Derzhava, Socialists, Socialist Party of Ukraine, Justice and Development Party. All of them were included in the list of 11 parties whose activities were suspended by the National Security and Defense Council in March. The Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit to ban parties from this list on May 22, until a decision has been made on the fate of four of them— this is the “Opposition Platform” For Life”, “Left Opposition”, “Union of Left Forces” and the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine.

Shvydkoy called the opportunity to leave it a sign of a free country

He said that leaving the country in disagreement with the authorities is “not the worst option” for a cultural worker. Shvydkoy emphasized that adults choose their own path and admitted that some of those who left may return

Mikhail Shvydkoy

Leave the country for a person with views that do not coincide with the position of power,— “not the worst option.” This is how the President's Special Representative for International Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi commented on the sidelines of the SPIEF to RIA Novosti. departure of cultural figures from Russia.

Having the opportunity to leave in such a situation, he called “a sign of a free country.”

“People choose their own path, all adults understand how their actions, words, deeds respond. What to do next, it will be necessary to think further. Someone left completely, but someone may return, & mdash; Shvydkoy said. According to him, many underestimate the intellectual abilities of cultural figures: “They understand everything and make their choice.”

Many public people, after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, spoke out against it. The editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta made an appeal to stop hostilities. Dmitry Muratov, musicians Andrei Makarevich, Yuri Shevchuk, Zemfira and Boris Grebenshchikov, singers Valery Meladze and Kristina Orbakaite, TV presenters Ivan Urgant and Maxim Galkin, writer Boris Akunin, comedian and bard Semyon Slepakov, actress Chulpan Khamatova and others. Many of them left Russia.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called the criticism of the special operation “a betrayal.” “Unacceptable <…> the position of a number of cultural figures who for many years did not notice what was happening in the DPR and LPR and even today do not condemn neo-Nazis who use civilians as human shields, placing weapons in the center of residential areas,— he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev saw a “big difference” between those who simply left Russia and those who continue to criticize the decisions of the Russian authorities and the special operation from abroad. He considered the latter traitors.

Macron, Scholz, Draghi visited Kyiv and supported Ukraine’s accession to the EU

The leaders of the three leading European countries visited Kyiv to announce their support for Ukraine to become an EU candidate country and to assure their support for defeating Russia

Olaf Scholz, Emmanuel Macron, Volodymyr Zelensky, Mario Draghi (left to right)

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, during their visit to Kyiv and meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, supported granting the country the status of a candidate for EU membership.

“We all support the immediate granting of candidate status to the EU”, — Macron said at a joint press conference after the talks in Kyiv (quoted by Reuters).

“This is a turning point in our history. The Ukrainian people daily defend democratic values and freedom, which supports the European project. Our project. We cannot wait. We cannot delay this process,»— Draghi said there. “Germany” for a positive decision regarding Ukraine. This also applies to the Republic of Moldova»,— he noted, adding that Ukraine belongs to the “European family”.

The trip took place ten days before the EU summit, at which the granting of the status of a candidate country to Ukraine should be officially announced. President Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Prime Minister Mario Draghi arrived in the Ukrainian capital early Thursday morning on a special train across the Polish border— to the sound of air defense sirens. A joint photo of the three leaders at a table in a train compartment was the first stage of the visit, the details of which were kept secret until the last moment. The visit began with a visit to the Kyiv suburb of Irpen, in which the leaders inspected the destruction. On the same day, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis also visited Kyiv, who also took part in negotiations with Zelensky.

What was the purpose of the visit to Kyiv

The first point of the visit of the three European leaders was the city of Irpen in the suburbs of Kyiv, which the Russian military occupied in the first days of the special operation, but then left. Kyiv accuses Moscow of numerous casualties among the civilian population of Irpen, but the Kremlin denies these accusations. After touring the city, Macron made several statements to the media. Thus, he spoke about the fact that European countries have already begun to allocate financial assistance to Ukraine for the restoration of cities destroyed during the hostilities, and that European experts, gendarmes and lawyers are helping the Ukrainian authorities in investigating war crimes. Commenting on his earlier remark that Russia should not be humiliated, he said: “France has been by Ukraine since day one. We stand on the side of the Ukrainians without ambiguity. Ukraine must resist and win».

Then the leaders of the four countries were received by Zelensky in Kyiv, the president came out to them in his usual informal form since February 24 & mdash; sneakers and a t-shirt. Negotiations lasted several hours behind closed doors. The main topic was the issue of Ukraine obtaining the status of a candidate member of the EU. Macron also announced the allocation of additional military assistance to Kyiv. Speaking about the prospect of negotiations with Russia, he stressed that Ukraine itself must decide on what conditions to conduct them, and that the EU will not demand territorial concessions from Kyiv to Moscow.

Dragizhe raised the issue of transporting Ukrainian grain intended for export, more than 20 million tons of which have been stuck in the country's ports since the start of the Russian special operation. Previously, it was transported to destination countries by dry cargo ships through the Black Sea, but Ukrainian ports in the Odessa region were mined after the outbreak of hostilities. At the same time, the approach to them is controlled by the Russian fleet. Turkey, together with the UN, is making mediation efforts to reach an agreement between Russia and Ukraine, which will ensure the unimpeded export of grain. “There are two weeks left to clear the ports, deadlines are running out to prevent the irreparable. It is necessary to organize safe corridors for the supply of grain,»,— Draghi said, noting that “the only solution” this is a UN resolution on the regulation of navigation in the Black Sea».

In turn, the head of Zelensky’s office, Andriy Yermak, wrote on his Telegram channel that the European leaders were given “a complete package of sanctions proposals against Russia, which were prepared by the McFaul international group”; Yermak". He noted that Kyiv proceeds from the need to “work on the seventh package of sanctions with the gas embargo.”

The Ukrainian president announced the country's intention to apply for EU membership on February 28, four days after the start of the Russian special operation. The questionnaire necessary for this was handed over to Kyiv, which the Ukrainian authorities filled out in an expedited manner and sent to Brussels. Politico, citing sources, reported that the European Commission on Friday, June 17, will recommend to the European Council to grant the country candidate status. However, according to the procedure, this requires the consent of all 27 member countries, which has not yet been achieved. Bloomberg reported that the Netherlands and Denmark opposed. In Copenhagen, they argue the refusal by the fact that Kyiv's readiness to assume the necessary obligations within the EU is still “generally at a very early stage.”

What did the leaders of France, Germany and Italy not suit Kyiv

>

For the French president, the German chancellor and the Italian prime minister, this visit to Kyiv was the first since the start of hostilities in Ukraine. Although since February 24, not only the leaders of the Baltic States and Poland, but also British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Canadian leader Justin Trudeau have managed to visit the country. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been to Kyiv twice already.

“Delay” with the decision to pay a visit could be due to the fact that each of the troika was repeatedly criticized by the Kyiv authorities. Chancellor Scholz has twice said publicly that he has no intention of visiting Ukraine, including because of Kyiv's refusal to receive German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in mid-April. The reason was the pro-Russian, according to Kyiv, position that Steinmeier held during his tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany. In particular, he supported the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project. Scholz made it clear that his visit to Kyiv would not take place until the president was there. Cancellation of visit— it is “an unacceptable way to treat the president of the country,” Scholz said in May, adding that this fact interfered with his own trip to Kyiv. However, Steinmeier never visited Ukraine, and Scholz nevertheless changed his position.

Another painful moment in relations between Kyiv and Berlin was the issue of supplying heavy weapons to Ukraine. Germany has previously announced several so-called ring swaps, in which the country will supply Slovakia, Greece and the Czech Republic with modern heavy weapons, and they will transfer Soviet ones to Kyiv, but so far the deals have not been implemented. In addition, Berlin promised to transfer 30 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns to Kyiv, organizing appropriate training for the Ukrainian military on the territory of Germany. The first batch should go to Ukraine in July, the second— in August. In Kyiv, however, other figures are called. So, the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich said on June 15 that Germany had promised to transfer 88 Leopard tanks and 50 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns. According to him, Germany “is responsible” for dead soldiers and civilians, as it does not give heavy weapons.

In relations with France, the stumbling block is Macron's attempts to maintain a dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a further diplomatic settlement of the conflict. Since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Macron has called the Russian leader more often than anyone else and, in total, according to him, spent more than 100 hours talking. He also urged Europe to refrain from “temptation or the spirit of vengeance”; on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Zelensky does not agree with this interpretation. “We should not look for a way out for Russia, Macron is doing it in vain. He wanted to find certain results in the mediation between us and did not find it. And not from our side, but from Russia's, — he said on the air of the Italian channel Rai 1.

The words of Macron, uttered by him in early June, caused an even tougher reaction from the Ukrainian side. “We must not humiliate Russia so that on the day the fighting stops we can find a solution through diplomatic means,” — he told French media, noting that France would have to play a mediating role. In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the words that Russia cannot be humiliated “can only humiliate France.”

The Italian prime minister, like Macron, tried to take on the role of a mediator and proposed his own plan for resolving the conflict, which was critically received both in Kyiv and in Moscow. It contained four main points: the establishment of a ceasefire, negotiations on the status of Ukraine, an agreement between Kyiv and Moscow on the status of Donbass and Crimea, and the conclusion of a multilateral agreement on peace and security in Europe. The relevant proposals were submitted to UN Secretary General António Guterres and representatives of the countries— members of the G7 (in addition to Italy, it includes the UK, Germany, Canada, France, Japan and the USA). Kuleba, commenting on the Italian proposal, said that Kyiv welcomes any plans that do not include “concessions from Ukraine on territorial integrity and sovereignty in relation to certain territories.”

Lavrov announced the readiness of the West to “hurt” its citizens

Lavrov: The West is ready to “hurt” its citizens for the sake of geopolitical ambitions Europe, to the detriment of its citizens, is “solving the problem” for the United States, which has declared a unipolar world order and is increasing its presence in the European region, Lavrov said

Sergei Lavrov < p>Western countries are ready to “hurt” for the sake of their geopolitical ambitions; their citizens and force other states to act in the same way. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with the NTV channel during SPIEF.

According to him, now the West is “solving the problem” for the United States, which declared itself the “master of the world”; and declared a unipolar world order. Thus, NATO and the EU allow Washington to build up its presence in Europe so that the region “never thinks about autonomy.”

“In order to achieve this strategic goal, the West, firstly, is ready to hurt its own citizens for the sake of geopolitical ambitions, and secondly, he forces everyone else to act on the same principle, resorting to direct blackmail, ultimatums and all sorts of base steps and methods,— emphasized the Russian minister.

Western countries are taking measures that harm themselves, including the imposition of sanctions, Lavrov said. The Foreign Minister recalled that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the next step to increase sanctions would include an embargo on Russian gas.

“As for the mood in Europe, about the demands not to do this and to avoid the problems that will inevitably arise if they stop buying Russian gas, everyone is well aware. That is, this slogan that Ursula von der Leyen puts forward means that they are ready even to their own detriment to punish Russia, — the politician explained.

In May, President Vladimir Putin warned that the EU countries and their residents would face “formidable consequences”; with continued sanctions pressure on Russia.

According to him, “the elites of Western countries are to blame for the economic upheavals, which are ready to sacrifice the rest of the world in order to maintain their global dominance.” He cited “myopic, overblown political ambitions” as one of the reasons for imposing sanctions.

Putin also pointed out that sanctions provoke a global crisis, and those who introduce these restrictive measures, before they only beat their own national interests and the well-being of their citizens.

“We see this primarily in the sharp rise in inflation in Europe”,— said the Russian leader, noting that, on average, in the euro area, “goods have added over 11%,” and in some countries inflation has approached 20%.

Since the end of February, many Western countries have begun to impose or tighten sanctions against Russia. Hundreds of Russian companies, banks, carriers, as well as individuals fell under the restrictions: officials, parliamentarians, public figures, representatives of the media and culture.

Vovan and Lexus called JK Rowling on behalf of Zelensky

In the conversation, the writer supported the “cancellation” of Russian culture in the world and did not object to the use of the inscription “Avada Kedavra” from “Harry Potter” on rockets

JK Rowling

Pranksters Vovan and Lexus called writer JK Rowling on behalf of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. As Lexus (real name — Aleksey Stolyarov) explained at SPIEF, the President of Ukraine “calls everyone all the time”, so his calls do not surprise anyone and it is easy to believe in such a prank. Bloggers presented the draw at SPIEF, and the full recording of the conversation was published on their Rutube channel.

Vovan and Lexus discussed with Rowling the “cancellation” Russia abroad (the recording of the conversation was translated into Russian by the authors of the channel). Author of “Harry Potter” agreed that popularizing Russian culture is not worth it now, and added that pressure on Moscow should be exerted culturally and economically. The pranksters recalled that in the movie Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore's Secrets, based on the universe she created, one of the characters was played by Russian actor Alexander Kuznetsov, and it was suggested that perhaps “some sanctions” could be applied to him; like “the story with Johnny Depp” (he was removed from one of the main roles in Fantastic Beasts and was replaced in subsequent parts by Mads Mikkelsen after the domestic violence scandal). Rowling responded by saying that she would “be sure to talk to certain people.” and see what can be done.

Video

In response to a question about whether the funds raised by the writer’s Lumos foundation could be used not to help Ukrainian children, but for weapons, she said: “Yes, I fully understand this.” When “Zelensky” Rowling told that he ordered to write “Avada Kedavra” (a killing spell from the Harry Potter books) on missiles, the writer approved. Vovan and Lexus also asked the writer if she could change the shape of Harry Potter's scar from lightning to a Ukrainian trident, and the hero's hairstyle— on a forelock in the Zaporozhye style. Rowling promised to think about it.

At the end of the video, bloggers asked Rowling to say hello to “favorite writers” Zelensky to Vovan and Lexus, which she did.

NBC learned about Biden’s dissatisfaction with the words of officials about the victory of Ukraine

According to sources, Biden “was not happy” with the words of the head of the Pentagon about the victory of Ukraine and that the United States wants to “see Russia weakened.” He saw in this the risk of drawing Washington into a direct conflict with Moscow u003d”NBC learned of Biden's dissatisfaction with the words of officials about the victory of Ukraine” />

U.S. President Joe Biden asked Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken not to go too far in expressing support for Ukraine, NBC reports, citing officials American administration.

According to them, Biden held a conference call with ministers when they flew from Kyiv in late April, it was not known about him before. During the conversation, the head of state expressed concern that their comments could give rise to unrealistic expectations and increase the risk of US involvement in a direct conflict with Russia. According to the channel, Biden advised ministers to tone down.

“Biden was unhappy with what Blinken and Austin were talking about winning in Ukraine. He was not happy with such rhetoric, — said one of the sources. Austin and Blinken told Biden that their words were misinterpreted.

The statements discussed in the conversation with Biden were made by the head of the Pentagon during a visit to Kyiv on April 25. Then Austin said that Ukraine could win the conflict, and also said: “We want to see Russia weakened to such an extent that it cannot do the things that it did in Ukraine.” According to Austin, Washington wants to ensure that Russia “does not have the ability to quickly fill the potential.” Blinken supported his position.

Biden said in early June that the US goal in the context of the conflict in Ukraine was “to see a democratic, independent, sovereign and prosperous Ukraine.” Therefore, Washington will supply Kyiv with more modern weapons and ammunition, provide financial assistance and cooperate with partners in sanctions against Russia. At the same time, as Biden noted, the United States does not intend to try to achieve regime change in Russia and encourage Ukraine to strike outside its borders.

Ukrainian media ridiculed German Chancellor Scholz who arrived in Kyiv

Photo: Frame from video

In the media space of Ukraine, the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was perceived with some irony. The UNIAN news agency published a mocking post on its Telegram channel.

The journalists of the publication proposed to make Scholz wait for a taxi at the station “until the end of the month or until autumn.” Thus, they hinted at the chancellor's repeated promises to hand over weapons to Ukraine “later”.

For Scholz to feel this situation for himself, one could draw a parallel with waiting for a taxi. The chancellor would call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who would say that the taxi would arrive in the fall.
